Sadly for Robert Redford, tragedy has not eluded him, and he has experienced the loss of some of his children. He still has two living daughters, Shauna and Amy, but his oldest Scott died in infancy and his son James died in 2020. However, Redford has been blessed with five grandchildren to keep him plenty occupied. Those grandkids are Conor, Mica, Dylan, Lena, and Eden, as per Closer Weekly.
In an interview for The Walker Art Center, Redford’s grandson Dylan interviewed his grandfather. During the interview, Dylan asked his grandfather how it feels to be a celebrity because, as a young kid, Dylan didn’t understand why folks were so interested in his grandpa during Grandparents’ Day visits. Redford reassured his grandson that he understood why it was so weird for a young kid in that situation.
“I remember that Grandparents’ Day and realizing, ‘Jesus, Dylan, and Lena, they don’t know,'” Redford explained. “‘They’re probably wondering what the hell is going on here because I’m going to Grandparents’ Day but I’m suddenly not a grandparent. I’m a celebrity.'” Even in that awkwardness, Dylan told Redford that he knew his role was as their grandparent above everything else.
