Huddersfield hospice's emotional light nights to remember lost loved ones

A Yorkshire hospice is one again putting on an emotional series light night events for people who have lost their loved ones.

The team at The Kirkwood, in Dalton, Huddersfield, are hosting a Light Up A Life services in Longcauseway Church, Dewsbury and The Kirkwood Gardens, Huddersfield. The hospice is aiming to bring the community of Kirklees together.

Following a series of special events, the tree at the heart of the hospice’s gardens in Dalton is lit throughout the festive period in memory of all those who have died.

The Kirkwood issued a statement, which included: ‘As the great Kirkwood tree lights up and individual candles flicker in the bitter cold wind on a dark moonlit night. Hundreds of memories of loved ones come rushing back into people’s minds as the beautiful services are read out.

‘Light Up A Life gives people the chance to stop for a moment and take a breath in what is usually their busy lives. Each year The Kirkwood invites people from across Kirklees and beyond to remember the special people in their lives…

‘Light up a Life offers an opportunity to reflect on the good times spent with people’s loved ones and cherish their memory. It’s a time to come together to remember and celebrate the lives of those that are special to us.’
