Inside Bryce Dallas Howard’s Glamorous Pink Home Inspired By Mia Farrow’s Farmhouse

Bryce Dallas Howard let her imagination run free when helping design her and her husband’s Los Angeles abode where they raise their children. While the home oozes glamour, it also pays homage to the couple’s love for cinema.

Bryce Dallas Howard, the distinguished actor, and director recognized for her roles in “Jurassic World” and the “Twilight” series, opened up about the unique inspiration behind her pink L.A. home.

She and her husband, actor Seth Gabel, found their muse after visiting Mia Farrow’s treasure-laden Connecticut farmhouse.

“It was the most magical place,” Howard gushed. “Her house brimmed with stories and keepsakes from an iconic life. Seth and I walked away thinking, ‘This is our aspiration. This is how we envision our home.'”

The resulting house was a labor of love, combining Howard’s personal touch with the creative flair of their family friend and interior designer Claire Thomas. They described their design approach as “organic glamour,” a vibrant blend of old Hollywood influences, retro pieces, and relaxed Californian aesthetics.

The Howard-Gabel residence radiates personality in every corner. Baby pink cabinets, a delightful match for the custom terrazzo breakfast table by Concrete Collaborative, accentuate a mint-colored kitchen island.

A bubblegum-hued media center faces a U-shaped Joybird sofa in a deeper rose tone in the living room, while a tranquil sage green guest room showcases fluted wooden wall detailing.

The powder room charms with fuchsia dinosaur-printed wallpaper, and the primary bathroom features an olive-colored tub set against a rosy Venetian floor.

For all its sunny charm, the house still makes room for theatrical elements. The dining room, for example, captures Howard and Gabel’s shared love for cinema. Thomas describes it as Howard’s “Miyazaki room,” a tribute to legendary Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki.

A mural-like wallpaper decorates the walls, and reflective brass panels installed by artist Cooper Reynolds Gross on the ceiling bathe the room in a warm, golden light.

Cinema references continue throughout the house, with Thomas integrating nods to “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” to honor Howard and Gabel’s deep fandom. Notably, the home’s rear facade sports a mural of two suns rising – an homage to Luke Skywalker’s home planet, Tatooine. A quirky Baby Yoda garlic holder stands guard over the kitchen.

Settling back on the west coast felt like a homecoming for Howard, who spent her early childhood there before her family moved away from the city’s glitz and glamor.

“I think my parents realized that being raised in Los Angeles, so much of the culture of this city is centered around the entertainment industry. And they sort of didn’t want to raise us in an environment that felt that singular.”

Now a mother of two, Theodore, 16, and Beatrice, 11, the 42-year-old shared that her youngest had shown a keen interest in her work, particularly enjoying time spent in the editing room.
