Marvel star Tom Hiddleston has officially confirmed that he and Zawe Ashton, a fellow actress from Britain, are engaged. 

After starring beside one another in the Broadway production, “Betrayal,” they have attempted to keep their relationship out of the public eye.

But, rumors began circling when they were seen in Ibiza, Spain, side-by-side. At the 2021 Tony Awards, they made their relationship status clear via a red carpet debut.

INSIDE TAYLOR SWIFT AND TOM HIDDLESTON’S LOVE STORY

Long before his current engagement, Hiddleston was part of a whirlwind romance with pop star Taylor Swift — a pair that some called “Hiddleswift.” Hiddleston met Swift in May 2016 when she was still in a relationship with Calvin Harris.

They ran into one another at Anna Wintour’s pre-Met Gala dinner, where Swift was seen leaving the premises on the heels of Idris Elba and Hiddleston.

Dancing together at the Met Gala, they sat next to one another at the event. Speaking to MTV UK, he remembered: 

“She was very charming. She is amazing.”

By the next month, the two were already enthralled with one another as they were spotted kissing. This interaction was only two weeks after the “Cardigan” artist and Harris had called it quits. 

Their relationship moved rapidly, as Swift met her new boyfriend’s parents only a fortnight later. There were photos of the duo walking with Hiddleston’s mother when they visited England. 

An insider claimed that, after two months of seeing his new girlfriend, Hiddleston was getting ready to ask for her hand in marriage. The source claimed that Swift would undoubtedly say yes to the proposal. 

However, in August of the same year, another source stated that they had a massive argument because they weren’t spending enough time with one another.

After three months of dating, Swift reportedly broke up with the actor as she felt overcome by how the public perceived their relationship. Post-break-up, Hiddleston spoke to The Hollywood Reporter:  

“I’ve learned that there are many sides to a story and that sometimes there are a lot of stories out there that are false, and the hardest thing is to try to not let those falsehoods affect your own life. That’s what I would say.”

According to a source, Hiddleston wanted to be more public about their relationship, but she was uncomfortable with his idea.
