Murphy celebrates his birthday on May 25, 2022. Throughout his 46 years on earth, he has become arguably one of the greatest actors of our time.

The Irishman has played many parts, including in independent films and plays. But, his big break came when he acted in 2002’s “28 Days Later.” Currently, he is known chiefly for his role as the stylish protagonist Thomas Shelby in Netflix’s hit series “Peaky Blinders.”

He has continued to rise to fame, also having been cast in many great films such as  Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Night” and working alongside Leonardo Dicaprio in 2010’s “Inception.” But, the actor does not allow this fame to creep into his private life, expressing

“I don’t want to be like, ‘poor [expletive] celebrities,’ that is not what I’m trying to say. I’m very happy and privileged and all of that. But I think this thing of having cameras everywhere is something we need to sort out.”

He remains almost secretive, stating that it is essential to stay behind closed doors as a performer, so the audience connects to the character you’re playing and not you. But, it is impossible to keep one’s whole personal life under wraps.

MEET YVONNE MCGUINNESS, THE WIFE OF THE “PEAKY BLINDERS” STAR

Murphy’s wife, like her husband, is creative and works as a visual artist. Her range is all over the place from photography, sculpture, writing, and much more. Also connected to the film industry, McGuinness has made a few short films

The two met at a rock show in the mid-1990s where Murphy’s then-band “Sons of Mr. Green Genes” played. They tied the knot in 2004 and now live a happy married life, cooking, listening to music, and of course, watching movies together.

One challenge the couple face, Murphy explained, is that sometimes he can bring his characters home with him. This instability makes it hard for his other half to deal with these almost different personalities who sometimes aren’t the nicest.

DOES CILLIAN MURPHY HAVE KIDS?

Murphy and McGuinness have two children together. Malachy was born in 2005, while Aran was born in 2007. The actor said that he does his best to choose roles close to where they live so that his kids can have a stable childhood and not move around too much.

But, the star and his family did make a big move once after living in London for 14 years. Unsatisfied that his children had developed posh English accents, he and his wife moved them to their home country, Ireland.

CILLIAN MURPHY’S DRAMATIC WEIGHT LOSS FOR HIS ROLE IN OPPENHEIMER

Dedicated to his craft, Murphy has reportedly lost 14 pounds for his role, playing the “father of the atomic bomb”: Robert Oppenheimer in the upcoming film “Oppenheimer.”

This role will most likely gain him more acclaim, and perhaps more people will greet him in the streets. If you are so lucky to run into him while on a walk, remember this private man is not a fan of selfies. But, as he said: “[I am] Always happy to chat.”
