Following the release of the series adaptation of “The Witcher,” the Netflix show took the internet by storm. And as season one wrapped up, and fans awaited the second season, the show’s LBGTQ audience couldn’t help but notice the chemistry between Henry Cavill and his male co-star characters.
However, “The Witcher” showrunners shut down any rumors of Henry Cavill’s character being gay. That applied to the actor’s sexual orientation off-screen, as he has made his relationship with his girlfriend red carpet official.

Henry Cavill’s Character from ‘The Witcher’ Was Shipped with Another Male Character
Cavill plays Geralt of Rivia in “The Witcher” series, and in the novel, his love interest is the female character Yennefer of Vengerberg. However, after watching the first season, viewers were convinced his character had something going on with Jaskier, played by Joey Batey.
While one fan tweeted that Jaskier is gay and Geralt is bisexual, another shared, “There’s no heterosexual explanation for Geralt letting Jaskier tag along and bother him. It’s for gay reasons only.” A third fan commented, “I know absolutely nothing about the witcher series, but that will not stop me from shipping Geralt and Jaskier.”

However, “The Witcher” showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich revealed that Cavill and Batey’s characters were not written to be gay and that their relationship was meant to be an example of a close male friendship. She added:
“It’s a side of male friendship that we don’t talk about a lot, right? I don’t think there are any homoerotic undertones for those characters. […]”
