Playboi Carti was presumed to be bisexual after his ex-girlfriend revealed he cheated on her with a man. The rumors of his sexuality were further amplified when his former hair stylist claimed he was part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Playboy Carti’s sexuality was first questioned when rumors about him being gay swirled in 2017. At that time, his girlfriend, Ruby Rose, exposed his alleged infidelity with another man, which caused speculation.

According to his then-lover, girls would message Rose, telling her that her boyfriend was talking to other women on social media. Among these girls was a transgender woman.

Thanks to Rose, screenshots of the rapper and the woman’s conversation circulated the internet. Rose later denied that Carti wasn’t a straight man.

Playboi Carti Allegedly Responds to Rumors Surrounding His Sexuality

In 2020, fans’ interest in Carti’s sexuality sparked again after he posted a song on Instagram that allegedly hinted at his gender orientation. In the clip, Carti donned bright red locks, a black net tank top, and silver jewelry,

He appeared to be wearing makeup as he danced and rapped. Several fans shared their thoughts in the comments section, with many saying Carti was gay.

Soon after, Carti’s former hair stylist also spoke about the rapper’s true identity, revealing that he was bisexual. Hairdresser Rhonnie Lee had a falling out with the rapper and took to Instagram to voice her anger towards Carti.

Through several Instagram stories, she asked Carti’s fan base to unfollow her and called him and his crew bisexuals.

Playboi Carti Talks about the LGBTQ+ Community

Months before Lee came forward with her truth, Carti talked about his sexuality. The young musician was well aware of the rumors surrounding his gender identity but did not care what other people thought. He said:

“I’m being myself. I hate that I waited so long to be myself. I wish I came in like this, but if you look at my career, you see little signs of that [expletive].”

Although Carti did not give a clear answer on what his gender preference is, he supports the LGBTQ+ community and does not judge anyone. In a previous interview, Carti proudly revealed that he had gay and transgender friends. “I done dated,” he said before pausing.

In response to his interview, many were intrigued by Carti’s last words. A fan on Twitter asked who he had dated and noted that it would be nice for Carti to reveal his dating life.

“Would be cool to see a high profile rapper like Carti talk about having dated trans women, or even men, tbh,” the fan wrote on social media.

Playboi Carti Was Once in a Relationship with Iggy Azalea

Carti was famously in a relationship with fellow musician Iggy Azalea, born Amethyst Amelia Kelly. However, their rocky relationship ended in a breakout that impacted the singer’s life. Carti and Azalea’s relationship produced a child, but the pregnancy was not announced until after the “Fancy” songstress gave birth.

In June 2020, the former couple welcomed a son, Onyx. Azalea was the first to share the news with her fans through Instagram stories. She also explained that she kept her pregnancy a secret until the time for her to introduce Onyx was right.

Later that year, Carti shared a cryptic message about her apparent breakup with the rapper. According to the singer, her loyalty was taken for granted, hence her decision to raise Onyx singlehandedly.

Despite their breakup, Carti remains a big part of his son’s life. Azalea and Carti are placing an effort to co-parent their son and raise him in a loving environment.
