Jason Simpson is the eldest of O.J. Simpson’s sons and is his second born from his marriage to Marguerite L. Whitley. As he grew older, life wasn’t very kind to the 52-year-old. Jason now lives a private life following his alleged involvement in a murder case.

O.J. Simpson is a former NFL player, chiefly known for his controversial career and even more so for being tried for his second ex-wife’s murder, Nicole Brown. Yet after being convicted of murdering Brown and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994, O.J. was acquitted the following year.

O.J. wasn’t the only Simpson among the suspects for Brown and Goldman’s murders; his son Jason was allegedly involved in the crime, according to PI William Dear. The author attributed his theory about Jason’s suspected involvement in Brown’s murder to his battle with alcohol and drug addiction and reportedly poor mental health.

Jason Simpson Experienced the Pain of Loss at an Early Age

Jason Simpson took his first breath in April 1970. His father had three children in his first marriage to Marguerite Whitley, including himself, his older sister Arnelle and his late baby sister Aaren Simpson. O.J. then fathered Sydney Brooke and Justin Ryan with Nicole Brown.

Jason’s baby sister Aaren joined the family in September 1977. Sadly, her life was cut short in August 1979, when she fell into the family pool and was unable to swim herself out. Her family found her motionless in the pool. The toddler reportedly passed on due to respiratory failure.

That same year, Jason’s parents went their separate ways. O.J. and Marguerite Whitley first met through a mutual friend A.I. “A.C.” Cowlings, and all three of them attended Galileo High School in San Fransisco. Marguerite was romantically involved with Cowlings, but the pair were having issues.

Cowlings asked his friend, O.J., to intervene by talking to Marguerite; however, that didn’t help his relationship. Marguerite and O.J. fell for each other, and the pair’s relationship reached marital union in 1967. At the time, Marguerite was 18, and O.J. had just entered the University of Southern California.

Unfortunately, their marriage ended following Aaren’s passing in 1979. According to O.J.’s IMDb, the settlements for their divorce included the division of $3 million in community property. His ex-wife received a trust fund worth $500 000 for her children and herself.

Moreover, she gained $600 000 to buy herself a new home and was entitled to 50 percent of Jason’s father’s income from his professional football contracts. According to Nicki Swift, Marguerite lived privately before, during, and after her marriage with the former pro footballer.

O.J. noted that his wife was very private, and she attributed the failure of their marriage to his fame. Moreover, O.J. had been reportedly unfaithful to Marguerite during their union’s last two years, involving the woman he was charged with murdering and his then future wife, Nicole Brown.

Jason was only nine, but he watched his parent’s marriage fall apart while grieving the loss of a sibling with his sister, Arnelle. Nonetheless, his mother supported his dad during his trial and said she would testify on his behalf.

There Is Information about Jason’s Mental Health Problems

In March 2012, author William Dear published the book “O.J. I.S. Innocent, And I Can Prove It,” which details his theories and suspicions supporting his title argument. According to Business Insider, the author discloses details about Jason Simpson’s mental health problems and his run-ins with the law.

Dear reveals that Jason started experimenting with drugs at 14 and was diagnosed with Jekyll and Hyde disease, a.ka. “intermittent rage disorder,” and was prescribed Depakote to help him control his rage and seizures.

Dear also wrote that Jason had been arrested for driving with a suspended license and assault, among other offenses. After four doctors reviewed his case in connection with the Brown and Goldman murders, they declared that Jason was “psychologically disturbed” and needed help.

Another incident involved Jason writing a letter describing himself as three people: himself, Jekyll, and Hyde. In the letter, he also demonstrated a willingness to harm anyone who posed a threat to his loved ones.

Two months before the murders of Brown and Goldman, Jason stopped taking his Depakote medication. According to the book, he burst into an emergency room and expressed his worry that “he was going into a rage” after hearing the voices of people who weren’t didn’t exist.

Theories about Jason Simpson’s Involvement in O.J. Simpson’s Case

Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman were murdered outside Brown’s condo in Los Angeles on June 12, 1994. In 2017, a true-crime docu-series titled “Is O.J. Innocent? The Missing Evidence” premiered, which delved into theories about Jason Simpson’s being the possible culprit.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, private investigator William Dear obtained journals and notebooks that he claimed belonged to Jason. The entries demonstrated a rage that, for Dear and the experts involved, was worth investigating to determine was the writer may be capable of doing.

Throughout the six-part documentary, more experts and former investigators of the case, including those who knew Jason personally, are brought in to examine Dear’s theory about Jason being the alleged culprit. They also looked at Jason’s timeline the night Brown and Goldman died.

In his book, Dear revealed that the doctors who reviewed Jason’s case stated that even if he was the culprit, he still couldn’t be convicted due to his psychological condition. The last episode of the documentary brings all the information together to present Dear’s case.

What Is Jason Simpson Doing Now?

In 2016, it was reported that Jason Simpson was an unreachable man and lived his life under the radar. However, he was also said to venture into the culinary arts and worked as a chef at St. Cecilia in Atlanta for two years. Details of his current work or personal life remain unknown.

Since her split with O.J., Jason’s mother remarried twice. There are no known details about whether Margurite Whitley is still married or not, what she’s done for work, or where she lives now.
