Jim Harbaugh’s children, with his wife, Sarah Feuerborn Harbaugh, are still relatively young. However, the famous NFL coach also has adult children, including one who followed in his footsteps and became a football coach at the University of Michigan.

Jim Harbaugh built his career around the sports industry as a football coach. In 2014, he made history as the 20th coach of the University of Michigan football.

While he is famously known for guiding a team to success, his most important role is heading his family. Harbaugh is a father of seven children, four from his current wife, Sarah Feuerborn, and three from his previous relationship.

Sarah Feuerborn Harbaugh Is Jim Harbaugh’s Wife & the Mother of Four of His Kids

Harbaugh raised his children with his second wife, Feuerborn, who also grew up in a large family. She was the youngest of eleven children and had to follow her older siblings’ wishes. Although a lot, her parents did everything to give their family the best life possible.

When she was eight months old, Feuerborn’s one-and-a-half-year-old brother was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Their mom tended to the sick boy while their father worked. As a result, Feuerborn’s parents couldn’t focus on her. She recalled:

“I was a baby, and my parents couldn’t really care for me, so I went to live with friends of theirs. For a while, I experienced being an only child, and I loved it.”

Despite liking being the only child, Feuerborn grew up close to her brother, who went into remission. Some even mistook them as twins because of their close age gap and similar size. Sadly, Feuerborn’s brother’s cancer returned. He died at 22, leaving his sister devastated.

Cancer awareness has since become a huge part of Feuerborn’s life. She has been passionate about the cause and volunteering for hospice. When she gets the chance, Feuerborn talks about the illness and her experience dealing with a family who had cancer.

One of the couple’s kids was asked to sign an autograph because of their famous father’s status in the sports world. Feuerborn explained that Harbaugh’s fame was due to his hard work.

Just as she supports her cause, Feuerborn also supports her husband’s career. The couple first met in Las Vegas, where she was a real estate agent, and he was participating in a coach’s convention. They tied the knot two years later and have since welcomed kids into their family.

However, being married to an NFL coach also has challenges, especially during regular season games. Feuerborn understands her husband’s job and its demanding nature, which she fully supports despite the difficulties.

Jim Harbaugh Is Dad to a Total of 7 Children

Feuerborn is a proud mother to four children, Addison, Katherine, Jack, and John, whom she shares with her husband. Her youngest boy, John, was born in 2017. She is also a stepmother to three of Harbaugh’s adult children from his past marriage, Jay, James Jr., and Grace, who pursued their own careers.

As for Harbaugh’s younger kids, they were not as aware of their dad’s fame in the sports industry. “I try to make sure they understand that this isn’t normal or reality for most people,” Feuerborn said. “I don’t want them to get complacent or used to being treated this way.”

Harbaugh’s career began in 1994 as a volunteer assistant coach in Western Kentucky. He also worked with the Oakland Raiders, San Diego, Stanford, San Francisco 49ers, and the University of Michigan.

Harbaugh’s eldest son, Jay, followed in his footsteps as a football coach at Michigan. Jay also worked as the team’s Special Teams Coordinator. He started his career in 2008 as an undergraduate assistant at Oregon State and transferred to the Baltimore Ravens in 2012.

Three years later, Jay worked with the University of Michigan, taking on different positions, and has been loyal to that team.
