John Schneider’s epic love story with Alicia Allain Schneider almost did not happen. On October 6, 2014, the “Smallville” actor almost “blew off” a meeting about a movie with the producer because he had trouble finding the restaurant.

Fortunately, she encouraged him to keep the appointment, and they engaged in easy banter over the role they thought he should portray. At the time, he was separated from his wife, Elvira “Elly” Castle.

John was “smitten”. “I played the role she wanted me to play,” he explained. “I lost every battle, but I won because I got her.” Though the professional relationship turned romantic, they could not marry as he was going through a contentious divorce.

When Alicia was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2019, they decided to marry “in the eyes of God.” Looking back at photographs of the July 2, 2019, wedding, he is always shocked to see other people there, as he only saw her that day.

Once John’s divorce from Elvira Castle was finalized that August, he could legally marry the producer on September 27, 2019. By 2020, the cancer was in remission.

“You Will See Her Again,” Fan Assures John Schneider

They discovered that the cancer was back when she broke her back in a racing car crash in December 2021. She died in hospice care in their home in February 2023. The country crooner did his first sit-down interview on his wife’s death this week. He said:

“I’d lay at the foot of the bed and hold her hand at night, looking at her pulse, everything in me wanting it to keep going, keep beating, and everything in me wanting it to stop because she was in pain.”

Sharing a link to the article with his Facebook following, he admitted that he has not read it yet. “Can’t,” he explained but invited them to read it and post their thoughts. “Such a beautiful tribute, had me crying,” a fan said.

Alicia Allain Schneider’s Catchphrases Live on in a Clothing Label

John Schneider takes pride in the fact that he could not have told her that he loved her more when she was alive. “Heaven is real, and I’ll get there one day, and she’ll greet me. At that point, this will seem like nothing. Like no time has gone by,” he said:

“Until then, I will endure. That’s what she’d want, and I’m going to live the rest of my life doing only that which would make her smile.”

To manage his heartache, he writes “letters to heaven,” daily musings directed at Alicia Allain Schneider, which he posts on social media. Another way he is honoring her memory is AliciaWear, a clothing line that features pithy phrases she was fond of, like “Love That,” “Truth,” and “Go Do.”
