Joyner Lucas’s Girlfriend: The Rapper Sparked Dating Speculations with Ashanti after Their Collaboration

Music stars Joyner Lucas and Ashanti caused quite a stir in 2020 after releasing a music video where they were love interests, and fans went into a frenzy, thinking the two were dating.

On September 2, 2020, rapper Joyner Lucas released the video for his music “Fall Slowly (Evolution),” featuring singer Ashanti. Fans immediately loved the video and praised their acting skills.

The intimate music video featured their toxic relationship as the love interests endured verbal and physical abuse within their relationship, in addition to their passionate romance on-screen. Their chemistry in the music clip made their fans wonder about their relationship status, with some asking whether Ashanti was Joyner Lucas’ girlfriend in real-life.

The “Fall Slowly” music video, currently with over 40 million views on YouTube, is the single, which came ahead of Lucas’ EP “EVOLUTION.” The EP featured Rick Ross and The Game.

A few months after the video was released, Ashanti was asked about her relationship with the two-time Grammy-nominated star during an interview on “Breakfast Club Power.” She was asked whether her mother and sister liked her man, and she said yes.

However, she paused for a while before answering the question, leading to another follow-up question from Charlamagne, who asked, “It’s not Joyner Lucas, right?” to which she responded:

“No! What are you talking about, Charlamagne? Why would you say that?”

Lucas is not the only showbiz star Ashanti has been rumored to be dating. DJ Irv Gotti, her former boss, alleged they were in a relationship, and she profusely denied the allegations in an October 2022 interview:

The both of them recently attended the 3rd Annual Birthday Ball for Quality Control CEO Pierre “P” Thomas in Atlanta. Ashanti and Nelly posed for snaps with their arms wrapped around each other at the event, donning matching sparkling outfits for the occasion.

On the other hand, Ashanti’s collaborator, Joyner Lucas, does not speak about his love life. However, he confirmed that he had a son in April 2020 when he appeared on actor Will Smith’s YouTube channel.

The pair were joined via video call by the Hollywood A-lister’s son, Jaden Smith, who introduced Lucas to his father. Lucas met the movie star after paying tribute to him by channeling his characters from “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and the “Pursuit of Happyness” alongside his real son — in his music video “Will.”

While the movie star expressed that he was “moved” by the tribute, Lucas told him that he is his “idol” and that he grew up looking up to him and wants to raise his children the way he brought up his.

Lucas is a father of two and posted two pictures of him and his kids on Facebook on April 12, 2023. He captioned the post, “My kids don’t even know I need them more than they need me.”
