Interestingly, Julia and Jennifer chose science-related programs in their college years but ultimately joined show business as actresses.

Julia studied for her psychology degree at Indiana University. She later pursued her passion for acting at Columbia graduate school, where she did student films.

During her time as a student, she was acquainted with an intern for a casting director and did a staged reading for “Martha Marcy May Marlene.” That would later become her first movie role. Julia knew life in the industry would be difficult after her mother, a comedian, informed her of the difficulties of being an actress.
