Justin Roiland, co-creator and star of the Emmy-award-winning animated sitcom “Rick and Morty,” is entirely private about his romantic relationships. Unlike many celebrities who are hounded by paparazzi and whose privacy is often invaded, Roiland has been discreet about his dating life.

However, his ex-girlfriend once accused him of domestic violence, exposing his personal life to the public. The accusation took a toll on the actor’s reputation, damaging his career. He was eventually dropped from “Rick and Morty.”

The voice actor had only one known ex-girlfriend, referred to only as Jane Doe. However, their relationship made headlines in 2020 when she accused Roiland of domestic violence. The actor, who pleaded not guilty, was charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud, and deceit.

In March 2023, the charges were dropped after the authorities found insufficient evidence. Following his victory, the 43-year-old voice actor shared a statement on Twitter. He wrote:

“I have always known that these claims were false – and I never had any doubt that this day would come.”

The actor expressed relief that the case had been dismissed while voicing his disillusionment regarding his ex-girlfriend. Roiland expressed his shock over what he described as “horrible lies” reported about him.

He further expressed disappointment in individuals who quickly judged without getting their facts right. The actor concluded by emphasizing his satisfaction with the resolution of the case. He expressed his dedication to his creative endeavors and the restoration of his tarnished reputation as his primary focus.

Two months before the case was dismissed, the “Rick and Morty” star, who played alongside Spencer Grammer and Sarah Chalke, was removed from “Rick and Morty.” Adult Swim, the show’s distributor, announced on Twitter that they had cut ties with the actor.

Roiland is also an uncle to his sister Amy Roiland’s daughter, Ryder Birdie. Birdie is emerging as a young fashionista. Her mother manages her Instagram account, which currently has over 40k followers as of this writing.

Despite being famous, Roiland acknowledged having an active Instagram account. However, he said he tries to be “contactless.” He mentioned that he doesn’t frequently check his DMs and anyone wishing to contact him should use his agency, UTA, by mailing a letter.
