Kathie Lee Gifford, the famous TV host, became a grandmother on May 31, 2022. Her oldest child and father of the new baby, Cody Gifford, is married to Erika Brown. Cody’s mom was surprised to learn they had named the boy after his late grandfather, Frank Gifford.

The boy, Frank Micheal Gifford, got his middle name from Erika’s Uncle, who sadly passed away in 2021. Frank is the pair’s firstborn since they married in 2020, and although he was born three weeks early, Kathie revealed the latest addition to the Gifford family is big, strong, and healthy.

The former co-host of “Today! with Hoda Kotb” recently opened up about her own love life after staying quiet about it for a long time. After the death of her husband in 2015, she admitted she refrains from speaking about her love life to keep things special.

Kathie was married to her husband Frank for more than a decade until he passed away at the age of 84, and her life has been marked by changes since then. She found new love and also decided to move to Nashville to be closer to her family, finding happiness in her new home.

Kathie decided it was time to take a break from her fast-paced life in California and trade it for something quieter in Tennessee. She also found that life in Nashville can be very fulfilling, and she has found the time and space necessary to help her write new music and direct the film, “The Way.”

Kathie “Loves” Being a Grandma at 69

Being in Nashville has also allowed Kathie to spend more time with her family, and she loves fussing over her new grandson. The TV host does her best to spend as much time with little “Frankie” as possible. She goes to see him whenever she’s not promoting her latest projects. Sharing her thoughts on becoming a grandmother, she said:

“I knew I was going to love Frank instantly because I love babies. But this is my son’s child — my husband’s son’s son — it’s all such a beautiful tapestry of life and creation.”

Kathie opened up about when she gave birth to her second child, Cassidy, and said Cody couldn’t stop kissing his sister’s little head. What she finds precious now is how her son is kissing his own son’s head, and she reflected on the “beauty” of life and how things turn out in the long run.

Since moving to Tennessee, Kathie is happier than she has ever been in a long time.

Kathie even has a nursery in her home to accommodate the little one when Cody and Erika visit her. She converted her late mother’s room into an animal-themed room for the baby, and the whole family was glad to see it used for a new family member. Kathie shared:

“[Erica] made it very animal-centric. It’s basically beige and white, and it’ll work for any baby that comes along the way now. Hopefully it’ll be the family nursery until I need bunk beds. We’ll get to that when it happens.”

With her daughter-in-law’s interior design skills, Kathie made the perfect room for little Frank, who she called a “wonderment.” The “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee” alum said she loves being a grandmother and described the experience as “beautiful.” She dotes on the newborn and gushes about how great he is.

She Enjoys Life at a Giant Home

Since moving to Tennessee, Kathie is happier than she has ever been in a long time. The star relocated to a 7,965-square-foot home right outside Nashville in a town called Franklin. According to her, the community is a large part of what she loves about her new home:

“First of all, there is a different culture — completely different culture down there, and it’s a culture of kindness in Nashville. And they are authentically kind. They are joyful, they have so much fun. Music everywhere. There are barbecues. Everything is Americana, like when I was growing up.”

Kathy moved from her previous home after her husband passed away. In the time she spent following his death, she was lonely, and staying in the house that held so many memories of her departed partner made everything worse. She explained:

“This home of mine in Connecticut, where Frank and I raised our beautiful children and we had so many happy years … it went from being the most teeming, thrilling, joyful, all the dog sounds, the kid sounds, the smoke in the grill and, you know … it just was life.”

At 69, Kathie feels good again. Her new home, a two-story brownstone mansion, is beautiful. The house has ample space, with a number of bedrooms and bathrooms. Kathie also has a white-themed kitchen, a handy basement, and serene areas outside. There’s even a big fireplace and a big dinner table.

Throughout the house, the counters are made of polished granite, and the kitchen cabinets are white-painted wood. Elaborate chandeliers hang in many of the rooms, and the walls are lined with glass-paned doors and large windows to let the sunlight in. In her office, big wooden bookcases hold her many trophies.

Recovering from the death of her husband has been hard on Kathie, but her new home and her still-unknown partner have helped her turn things around. She spends her days working on new projects and caring for her beloved dogs. She also loves having her kids over, and she Facetimes with little Frank whenever she can.
