Country star and radio host Kellie Pickler has been off the radio airwaves and social media since the death of her husband of 12 years, Kyle Jacobs. The producer died in their Nashville home on February 17, 2023.

In a rare signing three months later, she was spotted talking with friends outside the $2.4 million property. Workers were seen entering the home the same day and repainting what appeared to be the room he had died in.

The autopsy report confirmed that Jacobs died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot. Toxicology reports found no drugs in his system. His past of “pseudoseizures, gastrointestinal bleeding, elevated liver enzymes, and chronic alcohol use” was noted in the report.

Why Kellie Pickler Remained Quiet after the Death of Her Husband

“One of the most beautiful lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of a crisis if you don’t know what to do, ‘do nothing, just be still,'” Pickler said in a media statement on Thursday, August 17, 2023. “I have chosen to heed his advice.”

“Thank you to my family, friends, and supporters for the countless letters, calls, and messages that you have sent my way,” the “American Idol” alum wrote:

“It has truly touched my soul, and it’s helping me get through the darkest time in my life. As many of you have told me, you are all in my prayers.”

Pickler announced plans to host an intimate memorial service for her late husband later in the fall, signing the message with, “Love & Blessings, Kellie.”

Minneapolis, Minnesota native, Kyle Jacobs moved to the capital of country music, Nashville, in 2000. Pickler and Jacobs began writing songs together a day after they met in a bar in 2008, and their first foray into the studio produced the hit “Feeling Tonight.”

On the song’s release in 2015, she revealed that she thought of her husband every time she sang it and that they still felt like newlyweds four years into their union.

Kellie Pickler experienced their engagement as “the most spiritual moment.” Jacobs popped the question on a Florida beach on June 15, 2010. The “Red High Heels” quipped that had a preacher walked by, they would have married right then.

Instead, they sprung their wedding on fans on New Year’s Day 2011 on a private Caribbean island. In a tweet a few days later, she marveled at how nice it was to be referred to as “Mrs. Jacobs.”
