Country star Kenny Chesney has broken his silence regarding the death of a fan at one of his concerts. ET reported that a woman fell from an escalator and died after the 54-year-old singer’s concert at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver on July 30. Chesney told The Denver Post, “I was devastated to learn of the loss of someone after our show. There had been so much joy, so much heart coming from the people of Denver last night — and to hear this is heartbreaking … Sharing music brings us together and that love we share makes us so much more.” Later in the interview, the country singer continued, “For the lady who came to share that love, there are no words. For her friends and family’s loss, I grieve with them and for them.”

The Denver Post reported that the woman was sitting on the escalator after Chesney’s concert when she fell to the concourse below and died. The fan’s death is currently being investigated as an accident by the Denver police. Police spokesperson Nate Magee told the outlet that he believes the woman wasn’t pushed before she fell. “To my understanding, there was none of that,” Magee told the Post. “It was just an accidental fall, I don’t think anyone pushed her or anything like that.” Fox News noted Empower Field’s statement. “We extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of the woman involved in the tragic incident,” the venue’s representatives said.
