In new developments of Hollywood actor Kevin Costner’s tumultuous divorce from Christine Baumgartner, 49, it has been alleged that Costner is seeking revenge on his soon-to-be ex-wife. The 49-year-old was ordered to vacate the premises of the house she and Costner previously shared while they were married.

The mansion is located in Santa Barbara and is worth $145 million. Baumgartner was informed that she would have until the end of this month to vacate the residence.

A close friend of Baumgartner’s made the assertion that Costner has a ploy to get even with his estranged wife. The source alleges:

“[Costner is] out for revenge. He wants to humiliate her. This isn’t about the house; it’s about making Christine’s life a living hell for actually going through with the divorce. Christine said she wouldn’t be surprised if Kevin had her escorted off the property by police.”

The same source goes on to say that Baumgartner was the only parent out of the two of them who remained concerned about her children’s welfare during their parents’ divorce. They claim that the handbag designer wanted to ensure the transition would be done peacefully. While Costner, on the other hand, has worsened the situation and allegedly does not care about protecting his kids from the trauma.

Christine Baumgartner Claims She Has No Money to Rent a Place to Live, Begging the Question of Where She Will Go

The former couple’s 18-year marriage came to an end when Baumgartner decided to file for divorce in May. Before they tied the knot in Aspen, Colorado, in 2004, shortly after Costner’s marriage to Silva ended, they had courted for six years. Fast-forwarding to their drawn-out divorce this year, Baumgartner had actually agreed to leave their family home, however, on her own terms.

Though the original evacuation date set by the court was on July 12, she stated that she would only be leaving on August 31, despite their prenuptial agreement explicating that she would only have a month to vacate in the event of either party filing for divorce. Having missed the initial date, the judge has set a new deadline for July 31.

Costner’s legal team has requested a ten-day timeline to review the final forensic accountant files before the trial date.

Baumgartner claims that Costner is deciding to kick her and the kids out of the home without careful consideration. However, Costner revealed that he had agreed to provide the mother of his children with $30,000 a month to rent a residence of her choosing, an additional $10,000, and assistance from his staff to help her move. Although, the same friend of the 49-year-old is claiming:

“Kevin knows that finding a suitable place to rent in the Padaro Lane community is going to cost much more than what he was originally offering Christine.

The source then goes further to claim that Costner was well aware of the heightened cost of living in that community and could have offered a more suitable amount to help Baumgartner out. Instead, the source believes that Costner purposively gave her that amount to punish her.

According to the Daily Mail, Costner was the primary breadwinner, and at one point, he was the only person in the household making any money. In fact, Baumgartner has admitted that she currently has no income coming in, no accessible assets apart from approximately $50,000, and no earning capacity.

As far as the next steps of their divorce proceedings are concerned, should the judge assigned to their case validate their prenuptial agreement, Baumgartner may have to pay Costner back $1.5 million. She will also be forced to finance Costner’s attorney’s fees they racked up while defending the prenup document.

Baumgartner’s whole basis for being hesitant to vacate the $145 million family mansion is because she is claiming financial insecurity and not having a place to go. Additionally, she claims she wants to shield her children from having to move multiple times:

“[I] have our three children to think about. It is contrary to their best interests to commit to [a] rental that [I] may not be able to afford, particularly as that would ultimately lead to multiple relocations.”

Despite the claims Baumgartner has made, Costner has countered that he deposited $1.5 million into her bank account to help with the move and gave her $200,000 earlier in their marriage as per their prenup. However, Baumgartner maintains that she has not used the money as it would create problems for her ability to contest the document’s validity.

Additionally, claims are being made about the substantiality of the $1.5 million. Apparently, even that large sum of money would not be able to afford Baumgartner a home in the same area as their old one or account for the luxurious lifestyle she and her kids have grown accustomed to.

The Amount of Money Kevin Costner Will Have to Pay in Child Support

Despite the increased amount ($51,940) of child support, “The Bodyguard” star offered to pay for his three children, Cayden, Hayes, and Grace Costner, on a monthly basis; Baumgartner maintained that the proposed amount still felt inappropriate. She then put forward a total of $248,000 per month, of which she claimed that the amount:

“[Is still] less than the amount needed to maintain the children in their accustomed lifestyle.”

Costner’s legal team deemed the amount highly unsubstantiated and inflated, despite claims from Baumgartner’s team that Costner spends that amount, if not more, on himself. On Wednesday, the judge ruled an extension of the actor’s temporary monthly deposits of $129,755, denying Costner’s request to settle the child support matter before their trial date, which will determine their prenuptial agreement validity. While speaking on the matter, the judge disclosed:

“[An] evidentiary hearing is unlikely in the foreseeable future.”

Costner’s legal team has requested a ten-day timeline to review the final forensic accountant files before the trial date. Additionally, the ruling is retroactive, which binds Costner to pay the child support forward, beginning from back to July 1, if any changes to the final case ruling are made.
