  • He allowed his US-based son to wear his beloved military uniform; it was a bittersweet moment for the former senior royals.

  • Reportedly, Meghan has asked her father-in-law for an audience as he extends an olive branch to the couple.

  • The former senior royals are likely to revisit the UK.

Following the death of the remarkable monarch and family member, the royals, from far and near, gathered in the place they first called home.

Their anger was suspended while they focused on honoring the Queen and their shared grief. According to a royal expert, Richard Kay, somehow, this period highlighted the importance of family unity for the monarchy.

On September 19, the Queen was finally laid to rest, ending the glorious reign of Elizabeth II, and it became more glaring that it was time for a new dispensation.

Kay believes that undoubtedly, her eldest son, King Charles, who had been crowned the head of state and ruler of the royal family, would have a lot on his plate, from handling the matters of the state to the Commonwealth.

However, he must watermark his reign by first resolving the internal strife that has endured for a few years—which will likely earn the deserved affection from royal fans.

Consequently, he would also be honoring his mother. She was reportedly bereft of the disunity during her last years, while he is willing to bury the hatchet and patch his family’s wounded unity.

The King is convinced that the overwhelming audience curried by Harry and Meghan following their incessant revelations about the monarchy has done more harm than good.

According to Kay, King Charles trusts that Harry’s involvement in the funeral processions over those days, including the people’s display of immeasurable love for the Queen, would influence how he views true popularity and credibility, as opposed to the path he is on.

On the other hand, there is a possibility that unless Harry accepts the olive branch extended to him by the King, he could be ousted from the royal family.

One of the ways King Charles tried to reach out to his son was by permitting him to dress in his beloved military uniform—the Duke of Sussex was banned following his exit from the royal family. An insider confirmed that the family agreed to this decision, believing it was “just and right.”

Even though Harry had not appealed to his father, the former military officer wore his uniform for a lying-in-state vigil held in Westminster Hall, courtesy of the Queen’s grandchildren. The source added:

“It is no surprise that the King intervened in this way. He has the utmost respect for both his sons and their dedication to their military careers. The Duke of Sussex will wear his uniform as a mark of respect for his beloved grandmother but also the Queen and country he served for a decade.”

Despite the honor of having his uniform back, Harry, who wore a non-ceremonial outfit for most of the processions, seemed displeased when he received it.

This was because his grandmother’s initials, “ER,” had been removed from his shoulder. Conversely, for his uncle, Prince Andrew, who had been stripped of his royal duties, Harry retained the initials on his vice-admiral uniform.

A friend to the Duke of Sussex explained that Harry considered it humiliating, and it left him heartbroken.

In addition, the non-active royal considered removing his grandmother’s initials an intentional act and wanted to wear a morning suit the next day to avoid further embarrassment.

Amid his emotions, royal fans have been treated to a display of unity championed by not only the King but other members of the royal family, including Harry’s brother, William.

Experts Believe It Is Time for a Reconciliation

Harry and Wiliam’s rift intensified after “megxit,” the Sussexes exit from the royal family in 2020. However, after the Queen’s demise, Harry and his wife journeyed to the UK, where they were also extended olive branches.

Interestingly, there have been rumors that the family is already healing from their previously tense relationship, and some speculate a comeback to the royal family following the noticeable unity. Still, Sean is not convinced one meeting would fix everything.

Although he maintained that their external unity had surfaced more than once, they had been seen sitting and standing closely.

First, they shocked fans by uniting in front of Windsor Castle for a walkabout with their wives. Then, on September 14, the brothers convened for the match from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall.

Royal commentator Neil Sean clarified that the meeting was based on settling the rifts and making amends. Interestingly, rumors exist that the family is already healing from their previously tense relationship. Some speculate a comeback to the royal family following the noticeable unity, but Sean is not convinced one meeting would fix everything. He said:

“That’s right. Meghan one-to-one with King Charles. Truthfully, we have no idea if this is going to go forward.”

Harry and Meghan Are Eager to Return Home

The source confessed that the couple had planned on returning to their Montecito mansion almost as soon as the funeral was over, as they miss their kids “like crazy.”

Despite their eagerness to return home, a royal expert is optimistic that the couple will reunite with the royals again during the King’s coronation. This time, they would travel with their kids.

The royal author, Christopher Anderson, added that it would be one big family, including William, Kate, and their brood. “If Charles can make it happen, I think they will,” he stated.

While their next visit is tentative, royal fans have seen a willingness to leave behind their past and focus on a better future that would thrive in a healthier atmosphere.
