Kristofer Hivju’s Wife Gry Molvær Hivju Is a Star in Her Own Right – Inside Their Marriage

Kristofer Hivju’s wife, Gry Molvær Hivju, is also in the entertainment industry, though she has remained chiefly behind the scenes. She and her husband, with whom she has two adorable children, share the spotlight gracefully.

In August 2020, Kristofer Hivju posted a sweet anniversary tribute to his wife, Gry Molvær Hivju. The couple had celebrated five years of marital bliss, with Kristofer writing, “Five years ago I married this fantastic woman! Happy anniversary my love.”

Alongside the heartwarming caption was a selfie of the lovers donning costumes from their then-upcoming project, “URÆD – FEARLESS,” which happens to be one of many. The actor’s wife entered the filmmaking industry in the mid-2010s, but her husband had long been acting.

Kristofer graduated from The Russian Academy of Theater Arts with ample experience performing on stage. He debuted onscreen in the early 2000s, appearing in Norwegian films and TV shows before joining Hollywood in 2011 in “The Thing.”

He’s known for starring in M. Night Shyamalan’s “After Earth,” co-starring Will Smith and Jaden Smith, “Force Majeure,” and 2023’s “Cocaine Bear.” However, the role for which Kristofer is most acclaimed is Tormund Gintsbane from the beloved fantasy “Game of Thrones.”

The series, which starred Emilia Clarke and Jason Momoa, earned many nods and awards during its run and became integral to his life; he revealed that his wife cried when it ended. Gry was proud of Kristofer; however, her work is also praiseworthy.

Gry was born in Sula, Norway. She graduated from Volda University College with a Journalism degree and later studied International Politics, Political Science, and Art. She honed her directing and producing skills in the Norwegian National Broadcasting MasterClass program.

Gry worked as a science journalist and later transitioned her work into photography and documentary filmmaking. She made her directorial debut with “Bit Ballerina Bulldog,” a 2015 documentary written by her husband.

The following year, she co-directed another, titled “Bankskøyta.” In 2019, she served as an associated producer for eight episodes of the TV series, “Twin,” which stars Kristofer as Adam. The couple collaborated again in the 2022 docu-film, “URÆD – FEARLESS.”

“I didn’t really understand it was over until my wife started to cry. I asked her what was wrong, and she said, ‘This is it, this is the end. It’s over.'”

Gry and Kristofer are relatively open with their personal lives but have protected their daughters‘ privacy. Little is known about the couple’s children, as they have yet to reveal their names or dates of birth.

Still, the youngsters have appeared on their parents’ social media, usually with their backs to the camera. One photo that’s an exception is from Gry and Kristopher’s wedding; it showed the family of four happily throwing rose petals in the air precisely a year after the momentous day.
