A serious crash has shut a main A road through a South Yorkshire village for hours.
South Yorkshire Police have shut the A618 Mansfield Road in Swallownest, Rotherham, following a serious crash last night.
The crash scene has been cleared but the road remains shut in both directions to allow the police to carry out investigation work. The closure starts on the B6053 Rotherham Road and finishes at Worksop Road.

Main Street is also closed between Rotherham Road and High Street.
Inrix, our traffic system, reports: “The A618 Mansfield Road (closed) in both direction due to accident investigation work between B6053 Rotherham Road and Worksop Road. Following a crash last night.”
The nature of any injuries and casualties have not been disclosed but we have asked South Yorkshire Police for information and we will update this live blog as updates come in.
