‘Lucky’ and ‘Better’: Inside Johnny Depp Amber Heard’s Lives a Year after Trial

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have returned to the spotlight, and the stars are actively promoting their respective new movies. This comes approximately a year after the conclusion of their highly contentious defamation trial.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard made headlines following their intense defamation trial, which exposed startling details of their five-year relationship and threatened their careers.

Recently, sources revealed that the exes have a sense of optimism after their six-week court battle ended. A source close to Heard—who said she was stressed after the trial—acknowledged that she was now much “better.” A Depp source also said the actor and musician felt incredibly “lucky” to do what he loved most after the trial ended.

As per the court ruling, Johnny Depp emerged victorious in all three defamation claims he filed against his former wife, Amber Heard, regarding her 2018 op-ed about her allegations of domestic abuse.

The jury awarded Depp $15 million in damages, although, due to Virginia law limitations on punitive damages, the final amount was reduced to $10.35 million. In response to Heard’s countersuit against Johnny Depp, he was found to have defamed her on one out of three claims, resulting in her being granted $2 million in damages.

While Heard now lives in Spain, she confirmed to a local Spanish reporter that she is still working on film projects. In a short clip posted on TikTok, she responds to a question in Spanish, saying, “I love Spain so much.”

When asked if she plans to live in Spain longer, the “Aquaman” star, who co-starred with Jason Momoa, replied, “I hope so. I love living here.” The actress relocated to Spain in September 2022, three months after Johnny Depp won his defamation trial against her.

Despite her obstacles, Amber Heard has returned to the entertainment industry. The 37-year-old actress has a role in the 2023 thriller “In the Fire.” Conor Ally, the film’s director, spoke about his experience working with Heard and commended her for demonstrating resilience despite her hardships.
