Two Mall of America shooting suspects were apprehended in Chicago on Thursday afternoon after they had reportedly been hiding from law enforcement.
Prosecutors claim that on August 4, the two defendants, Shamar Alon Lark, 21, and Rashad Jamal May, 23, opened fire with three rounds during an altercation with shoppers at a Nike store within the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. The incident didn’t result in any injuries.
The arrests, according to Bloomington Chief of Police Booker Hodges, should serve as an illustration of the steps that the government will take to combat gun violence.
Three more people were detained for allegedly assisting Shamar Lark and Rashad May in escaping the crime scene.

According to CBS, Shamar Lark was named by law enforcement as the shooter in the Mall of America shooting, and Rashad May was charged as his accomplice who assisted him in eluding capture.
According to the New York Post, Lark was accused of intentionally discharging a firearm, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, and openly carrying a pistol. Rashad May was charged with assisting a criminal.
According to KARE 11, the two were found in Chicago by FBI officers as they were leaving a barbershop in a vehicle being driven by a female accomplice. They may have been obtaining haircuts to hide their identity, according to authorities.
Denesh Raghubir, 21, Selena Raghubir, 23, and Delyanie Kwen-Shawn Arnold, 23, were the other three individuals detained for assisting the couple. Cousins Denesh and Selena Raghubir worked at a Best Western hotel close to the Mall of America.

Authorities claim that Selena Raghubir and Delyani Arnold were dating. As the Mall of America was being evacuated following the attack, the suspects allegedly asked Arnold for assistance in getting away. Arnold then informed Selena, who convinced her cousin Denesh to take a trip to the mall to help Lark and May escape.
When questioned, Denesh allegedly lied, saying that Lark and May were present in the hotel, according to the authorities. The Best Western hotel was consequently put on lockdown as well.
Lark and May are currently being held at the Cook County Jail in Illinois. They will be returned to Minnesota, where a trial is anticipated.
