Commenting on Instagram influencer Matt Bernstein’s post about Candace Cameron Bure’s “marriage” remarks, Maren Morris jokingly wrote, “Make DJ gay again,” in reference to Bure’s most famous character — DJ Tanner on “Full House” and “Fuller House.” At this point, we probably don’t have room to include every celebrity clap back to Bure’s interview because there are several.
It didn’t take long for Bure herself to respond to backlash. Taking to her own Instagram, Bure did not apologize for the interview but did say she was heartbroken that people “would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone.” She added, “It saddens me that the media is often seeking to divide us.” The actor’s statement continues for several paragraphs, in which she writes that she loves everyone — even the people who are “attacking” her online. Whether this message is enough to convince anyone remains to be seen. But we kind of doubt it.
