Former E! News correspondent, Maria Menounos, has shared her secret battle with stage two pancreatic cancer. According to People magazine, Menounos received the diagnosis back in January, a month before announcing her pregnancy with her husband Keven Undergaro via a surrogate. After undergoing surgery to remove a 3.9 cm tumor on her pancreas, Menounos expressed her surprise at her double health challenge, having previously been treated for a benign brain tumor in 2017. Her exact diagnosis was stage two pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor, a type of cancer. Menounos admitted that the surgery and her recovery were “super painful”, and she found it difficult to move or lift herself up.

In addition to her recent cancer diagnosis, Menounos was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes last year. She had initially started experiencing severe leg cramps in June. In an interview with People magazine, the media personality shared her emotional reaction to living through another health crisis while still dealing with the news of her impending motherhood. Despite her struggles, Menounos remains determined to promote awareness about the importance of catching health issues early and seek help for any concerns. “You can’t let fear get in the way,” she said. “I need people to know there are places they can go to catch things early. I had that moment where I thought I was a goner — but I’m okay because I caught this early enough.”

While Menounos says that she is feeling much better, she is still reliant on follow-up medical appointments. Her doctors, Dr. Ryan Aronin and surgeon Dr. Timothy Donahue, have reassured her that she is looking to be in good shape. Menounos is excitedly awaiting the birth of her first child later this summer, a baby girl, and has expressed her gratitude for her child’s safe delivery. Menounos spoke positively, revealing that her journey through her illness has given her a renewed appreciation for the people in her life and has allowed her to find the best way to cherish every moment. “I’m so grateful and so lucky. God granted me a miracle. I’m going to appreciate having her in my life so much more than I would have before this journey.”
