Maria Shriver Reportedly ‘Set Up’ Daughter Katherine Chris Pratt ⁠— The Couple Just Welcomed Their 2nd Baby

Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger have a love story for the ages, and it all started because of Katherine’s mother, Maria Shriver. The couple’s relationship progressed quickly, and they never looked back, welcoming a second baby in 2022. 

Hollywood romances don’t often last long or have happy endings, but the bond between actor Chris Pratt and author Katherine Schwarzenegger is undeniable.  

Before Chris found love with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s daughter, he was married to another A-list celebrity. In 2007, he met Anna Faris during a table read for their co-starred film. 

After spending time together working on “Take Me Home Tonight,” Faris and Chris developed a romantic relationship and tied the knot in 2009. 

They were together for close to a decade, welcoming one son, Jack Pratt, before their divorce in 2018. Faris has since spoken about the end of their union and felt her hand “was forced” in the separation. 

Despite these feelings, she has an amicable relationship with the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star, and the pair co-parent their son. Not long after the end of his first marriage, Chris crossed paths with Katherine.

CHRIS AND KATHERINE’S DATING HISTORY 

Chris and Katherine shared a special bond from the very beginning because they valued religion. Katherine had a Catholic background, and Chris was a devout Christian, often spotted attending Zoe Church in Los Angeles.  

Many of their first outings showcased the couple attending church together, even before their dating status was confirmed. Fans were stunned when the couple was spotted on a sweet picnic date in June 2018. 

Chris and Katherine smiled as they enjoyed their lunch in Santa Barbara, California, sharing apples, potato chips, and sandwiches. A source revealed that their relationship was “still new” and mentioned who the matchmaker was.

KATHERINE’S MOTHER PLAYED MATCHMAKER

Katherine’s mother, Maria Shriver, helped bring the two together and hosted them for dinner at her home. Chris was smitten with his new love interest and prioritized getting to know her family. 

Time at Shriver’s house included riding scooters in the neighborhood and enjoying a meal together. A source added:

“Maria is excited for Katherine. Everyone has their fingers crossed that this is going to work out long-term. They are perfect together and have similar goals and values. They have gotten serious quickly.”

Chris developed a great relationship with Katherine’s parents, including her famous father, Arnold. Chris nervously sought his blessing for Katherine’s hand in marriage, and the “Terminator” actor approved. 

Arnold said:

“[Katherine] is so happy. They both are so happy. As I said to him, he is such a likable guy. I love Chris – he’s fantastic.” 

It was evident that Chris got along well with Shriver and Arnold, and a source said it was as if the actor was a part of the family. He was always very “comfortable” around them, and the couple didn’t hold back on their affection around the parents. 

THE COUPLE’S INTIMATE WEDDING DAY

After seven short months of dating, the star-studded couple showed the world how serious they were about their relationship and got engaged. The pair instinctively knew they wanted a small wedding, with just their nearest and dearest.  

They weren’t up for “a circus” and focused on what the marriage meant to them. A source shared that God would be a key element in their big day because faith played a significant role in the couple’s life. 

The insider continued:

“It’s been such a special time not just for them, but also for their families. Everyone is so excited.” 

Chris and Katherine held an intimate ceremony in California with close friends and family in attendance. Chris’ son, Jack, was also present, and the couple took photos with all of their family members.

IT WAS THE HAPPIEST DAY OF THEIR LIVES

The wedding venue was decorated with beautiful flowers and greenery, and it was a very romantic atmosphere—perfect for the giddy couple. The bride looked stunning, and her groom looked handsome in a dapper suit. 

A source expressed: “You can tell today is the happiest day for Katherine. She hasn’t stopped smiling. And Chris seems giddy with excitement.” Chris also shared his joy online and told fans that the wedding was the best day of their lives.

The actor said:

“We became husband and wife in front of God, our families and those we love. It was intimate, moving and emotional. We feel so blessed to begin this new chapter of our lives.”

He thanked their loved ones and the designer of their bridal wear, Giorgio Armani. He ended the post by saying: “This morning, we feel nothing but blessed.” 

CHRIS AND KATHERINE WELCOME THEIR FIRST CHILD

In 2020, Katherine shared an adorable photo of a tiny hand, revealing the birth of their first child, Lyla Maria Schwarzenegger Pratt. She expressed their joy and happiness at the significant milestone.

Sources said the first-time mom was tired, overwhelmed, and thrilled. They stated that Chris did everything possible to assist her and was a wonderful father and husband. 

Grandparents Arnold and Shriver also spoke about their excitement. Shriver called it “a whole new joy,” and she enjoyed every minute of the new relationship with her grandchild. 

She noted: “I’m learning to kind of be in it and also be out of it because it’s not my baby.” Arnold comically stated that being a grandad was “the easiest thing” because the child only came over for a few hours to play and have fun.

He recalled:

“I put her on the horse, I put her with the dog, I play with the dog, and after two hours, they leave. Over. It’s fantastic, I tell you.” 

THE SCHWARZENEGGER-PRATT FAMILY ADDED ANOTHER MEMBER

The Schwarzenegger-Pratt’s announced the birth of their second child, Eloise Christina, in 2022 and felt grateful for their blessing and bundle of joy. 

The delighted mother and father have kept their family private and only share rare glimpses of their kids online. They keep the faces of their little ones hidden and shield them from the public as much as possible. 

In 2021, Katherine alluded to their choices about privacy. She was thankful that her parents provided their family with a normal upbringing and was undoubtedly trying to gift her brood with something similar.

With families and careers that place them in the limelight, it is tricky for Chris and Katherine to keep the cameras away from their children. However, they are doing their best.
