Marshall Trenkmann, Karla Souza’s husband, was only recently officially photographed accompanying his wife to an industry event. The private star does not post many photos of him or their kids on social media.

Karla Souza has characterized Marshall Trenkmann, a banker, as giving without asking for anything in return. She was already a big star in Mexico, having acted in “Verano de Amor” and “Los héroes del norte” when they met in the early 2010s.

This was before her films “Nosotros los Nobles,” and “Instructions Not Included” became two of the largest-grossing films at the Mexican box office ever, and she booked her career-defining role in the US, “How to Get Away with Murder.”

Karla Souza is a married woman – get to know her banker husband, Marshall Trenkmann

Trenkmann is an alum of Texas A&M University, where he was awarded his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He has held the position of credit team leader for CIB LatAm in Mexico.

He returned stateside to be part of the CIB Oil and Gas credit team in Houston, Texas, per El Heraldo de México. Now based in Los Angeles, California, he is a director at JP Morgan.

Unlike his wife, who has 3.9 million followers on Instagram as of May 2023, Trenkmann does not seem to have any social media profiles, not even LinkedIn, a standard networking resource for business people.

Marshall Trenkmann and Karla Souza have been married for almost a decade, yet they keep their romance away from the spotlight

The few times that Souza has spoken about her relationship with Trenkmann in interviews or social media, one can hear the emotional and intellectual connection that the pair share.

The actress said that she “married who she married” because he was the first boyfriend to who she could talk about her mother’s mental health issues, and in turn, he could speak to her about his brother, who has schizophrenia.

“He leaves me articles he wants me to read about something we were talking about, like Latino culture,” Souza told Us Weekly in 2015, also sharing the “super sweet” messages he leaves in her bag, like, “‘I hope your day goes well! I love you.”

The actress felt “seen” when playing a Latina mother in “Home Economics.”

Trenkmann and the “Day Shift” star met through mutual friends at a party in Mexico in 2011. The couple got engaged in November 2013 and had a civil marriage in California.

They celebrated their nuptials over three days with family and close friends in June 2014 at Tequesquitengo, Morelos, a lakeside vacation town near Mexico City.

Despite having her wedding the year her show became an ABC smash, the first images of the event only came out in 2018 – when she shared a photo of their big day, partially captioned:

“I already know you’re going to make the most amazing father!”

The actress felt “seen” when playing a Latina mother in “Home Economics,” which helped her reflect on motherhood in a 2022 Parents interview:

“Having children magnifies all those things you’re trying to work on, like a lack of patience, or your anxiety, or your past trauma. There’s so much stuff that bubbles up.”

As quietly as they married, Souza and Trenkmann had their first baby. The “Don’t Blame The Kid” actress posted a photo of her pregnant belly on April 20, 2018, and captioned she had something to share.

However, the real news was revealed in her follow-up post with the newborn, Gianna Trenkmann, a few minutes later. The reveal came as a shock to fans and the media.

She had hidden her pregnancy in plain sight while filming “HTGAWM,” telling publications that she was wearing prosthetic bellies to follow the progress of her character’s pregnancy.

Luka Olivares Trenckmann arrived on Friday, June 12, 2020. His big sister took it upon herself to teach him the lyrics of “Poco Loco” from the Disney movie “Coco.”
