Matt Hancock is back on our screens later this month for another helping of the disgraced MP revelling in the reality TV spotlight. But this time things are going to be much, much tougher – more tougher than even the Australian jungle.

The former Health Secretary took part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins before he appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here but the show is released a year after filming.

According to reports the estranged dad-of-three was paid £45,000 to take part in the week-long show. It is estimated he earned that sum for doing 80 hours of work. That is quite a small pay packet compared to his £320,000 pay for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Here, reports The Mirror.

However, it is reported he gave around three per cent of the fee to charity. On entering the jungle TV star received backlash from his fellow politicians and the public for seemingly abandoning his constituents in favour of a new career as a reality TV star.

Reflecting on his time on the mentally and physically challenging show he said: “Being on SAS was like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. It’s one of the toughest physical and mental things I’ve ever done. It really opens your eyes and makes you look into yourself.”

He added: “After coming through the most challenging period as health secretary during the pandemic, I wanted to push my limits. It’s safe to say the course tested my resilience.” The former MP was forced to resign from his well respected position as Health Secretary two years ago after being publicly exposed for breaking Covid rules and dived into the world of reality television.
