The gong for a Succession spinoff continued from the red carpet into the back press room at the Emmys with Matthew Macfadyen, after his second supporting actor drama win, fielding the question.

“I would never say never, but highly unlikely,” responded the actor who plays the foolish Roy in-law, only to succeed them all in the end as the family’s conglom gets taken over.

“It would all depend on if (creator) Jeese Armstrong wanted to do it,” answered Macfadyen.

“I think Jesse’s instincts and our instincts is that we ended just at the right place. We sort of didn’t tie it up, we just left them to carry on in their strange and frightening world,” added the actor.

“As nice as it would be to work with everyone again, it would be strange to do a spinoff,” he continued, “But who knows?”

Nicholas Braun told Deadline earlier that he’s game for a spinoff, but only if Armstrong wants.

He concurs with Macfadyen — odds are no dice, per the boss.
