There is more to Sara Dudley than being the wife of famous country music crooner Matthew Ramsey. Ramsey is the lead vocalist of the band Old Dominion, which is famous for songs like “One Man Band” and “Written in the Sand.”

Dudley is an educator and the co-founder of the Ramsey Foundation, which provides resources to rural organizations to help them meet their day-to-day needs. The foundation she runs with her husband also promotes the arts, culture, and entertainment.

Matthew Ramsey’s Relationship with Wife on Tour

Ramsey found it challenging to balance his family life and his music career. In 2019, he admitted that going around for the band tour was “pretty grueling” because it kept him from spending time with his wife and children.

Ramsey explained that touring with the band entailed traveling with extra crew members and various equipment required for their performance. He said the bus was packed with about 16 people.

According to Ramsey, bringing his family along was not an option at the time due to the situation. Despite the struggles, he was lucky that social media, such as the FaceTime app, allowed him to communicate effectively with his loved ones.

Ramsey has achieved massive fame and success. But no matter how famous a celebrity he may be, when he’s at home, he acts just like any other dad. In an interview with People, he said:

“I get to come home and drop the kids off at school and stuff like that. It’s quite a switch! You get off the stage, and it’s like, ‘Ahh,’ and then you come home, and you’re like, ‘I gotta take out the trash.”

The gifted musician finds it humbling to do domestic chores alongside his family. Helping out around the house and spending quality time with his wife and children keeps fame and success from getting to his head.

What Helped Ramsey to Communicate with Family Better

There was a time when Ramsey felt lost and overwhelmed by all that was going on in his life. Unable to contain his negative emotions any longer, he reached out to a friend for advice.

Ramsey decided to see a therapist for the first time after he penned “Some People Do,” a song that Old Dominion released in 2019. The first verse of the ballad goes: “I know you’re hurt / I know it’s my fault /, but I’ve kept ‘I’m sorry locked in a vault.”
