Mechad Brooks, who is credited for starring in series like “Supergirl” and “Mortal Kombat,” is set to appear on the 22nd season of the long-running TV show “Law & Order.” Brooks has been active in Hollywood for over two decades.

MEHCAD BROOKS JOINS LAW & ORDER

Fans have seen him play recurring roles on several TV series, and now Hollywood star Mehcad Brooks is set to star in the 22nd season of the crime series “Law & Order.” 

Reports show that Brooks’ character will join the show in the place of “Black-ish” actor Anthony Anderson. Anderson starred on the show for about four years as Detective Kevin Bernard. Presently no character’s name or description has been ascribed to Brooks.

MEHCAD BROOKS TV SERIES

With a career spanning over two decades, Brooks has had his run on both TV projects and feature films. The star first gained fame on the small screen for his role as Matthew Applewhite on ‘Desperate Housewives.” 

The ABC-produced series earned him a SAG Award and an NAACP nomination. Brooks further appeared on HBO’s “True Blood” and was in the series from 2008 to 2010. His other TV credits include “Necessary Roughness” and “Supergirl, ” his most recent TV appearance. 

In 2019, the Texas-born actor made it to the news after deciding to leave “Supergirl” in its fifth season. At the time, it was announced that he was moving on to focus on feature films.

As a film actor, Brooks has his acting credit in movies including “A Fall From Grace,” “Nobody’s Fool,” “About Last Night,” and “Valley of Elah.” He played some of these memorable roles alongside actors like Whoopi Goldberg, Tika Sumpter, and Kevin Hart. 

However, Brooks’ most notable movie role is in 2021’s “Mortal Kombat.” The actor played Major Jackson “Jax” Briggs in a role that saw him combat the franchise’s villain, Sub-zero. 

Before the release, Brooks gushed about loving ‘Mortal Kombat” all his life. So, in essence, it felt it was an honor for him to play Major Briggs, a cybernetically-enhanced warrior who protects the Earth realm.

The actor opened up about the challenges he faced while playing the role. He described his preparation process as one of the hardest things he’d ever done for a movie project. 

Brooks shared that he had to be at the gym daily, coupled with the extra 45 pounds he gained. He ate voraciously and combined it with boxing drills. Even before bagging the Major Jax role, the award-winning actor was invested.

With his new stint on “Law & Order.” Brooks is set to bring on the expertise and passion fans witnessed in “Mortal Kombat.’ While this is in no way similar to the hero-centered movie, this also requires substantial action. 

Following the announcement that Brooks will join other TV series stars, he took to his Instagram page, where he shared a screenshot of Deadline’s article. Brooks wrote that he was “honored, humbled, grateful and invigorated” to appear in the crime series. 

The star shared words of wisdom, letting fans know that keeping to faith, manifestations, and believing in oneself were key to being recognized. He showed gratitude to family, the producers, and fans and was, in turn, heartily celebrated in the comment section.
