Melissa Gilbert Had a Breakdown After Her Second Marriage – Who Is She Married to Now?

Melissa Gilbert walked down the aisle three times in the past, and although she was twice divorced, the actress is now happily married to Timothy Busfield and moved to Catskills.

Melissa Gilbert found fame when she brought to life the fictional character Laura Ingalls on the hit television show “The Little House on the Prairie.” 

Recently, she released a new book, “Back to the Prairie,” that paid homage to her breakthrough series. The actress detailed several life accounts in her memoir, including her second marriage to Bruce Boxleitner.

Gilbert married fellow actor Boxleitner in 1995 but eventually divorced in 2011. She has since moved on and is now happily married to her third husband, Timothy Busfield.

Like Gilbert, Busfield also walked down the aisle twice before tying the knot with the actress. He was once married to Radha Delmarter and Jenny Merwin.

He is also an actor known for appearing in the television shows “Blue Bloods,” “The West Wing,” “Law & Order,” and “Thirtysomething.”

Busfield married Gilbert at San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California, in 2013. Although it was an intimate celebration, it was filled with love and emotion.

Gilbert also famously dated celebrities in the past, including her “Little House on the Prairie” co-star, Michael Landon’s son, Michael Jr., at 17 years old.

In 2018, Osbourne and Busfield moved to a 14-acre cottage in New York’s Catskill Mountains to seek a peaceful and tranquil life together. “This is something I’ve always wanted,” she said.

WHO WERE MELISSA GILBERT’S PREVIOUS HUSBANDS?

Gilbert was once married to Bo Brinkman, with whom she had a son, Dakota Brinkman. She also has a son, Michael, with Boxleitner, and two stepsons, Sam and Lee.

The actress and Boxleitner were married for 16 years before calling it quits, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their divorce. Gilbert said at that time:

“We have loved each other for a very long time, and we share four incredible sons together.”

Gilbert knew her marriage was over when she broke her back and needed surgery. She claimed her then-husband failed to show the same care and support she showed her over the years, even citing that he told her to ask someone else to bring her home from the hospital after the procedure.

Although being caring and compassionate was never Boxleitner’s strong suit, Gilbert felt that she deserved better, which she got after marrying Busfield.

Shortly after, she entered into a relationship with actor Rob Lowe. “I fell instantly, hopelessly, and stupidly in love. We went from first date to instant couple. I felt like I was starving for Rob,” she said.

They later conceived a child, but they parted ways when Lowe said he wasn’t ready. Gilbert later suffered a miscarriage. Gilbert was also reportedly in a relationship with Tom Cruise, although nothing had been confirmed.
