A yellow weather warning for rain has been put in place by the Met Office and is covering parts of Yorkshire.

The warning will come into force at 6pm this evening and will last overnight until 6am tomorrow morning. At the moment, the warning mostly covers Lancashire, but stretches into some parts of West Yorkshire.

This includes Ripponden, Hebden Bridge and Marsden. These areas can all expect to see heavy rainfall.

The Met Office has warned that the flooding of some homes and businesses is possible as a result of the rain. They have also warned of spray and flooding on roads, which can cause delays, as well as delays to bus and train services.

They said: “Frequent heavy showers merging into some longer spells of rain through Sunday evening and overnight. 10-20 mm of rain falling and possibly 30-40 mm in a few places over a 12 hour period.”

Now, the Met Office have warned residents to check if their property is at risk of flooding, and to prepare a flood plan if so. They have also said people should check road conditions and public transport timetables before setting off on a journey.
