The latest wild weather to batter Britain is on the cusp of becoming Storm Henk, it has been reported. Met Office weather forecasters have provided more detail on the latest weather system following the Storm Gerrit aftermath.
Meteorologists have warned another front is inbound for the UK in time for New Year’s Day with 75mph winds, snow and rain. It is due to pick up again on Sunday evening before becoming more prominent on Monday, January 1.
Over 100 homes were badly damaged as a tornado ripped through Greater Manchester before three men were swept away in a 4×4 while attempting to cross a river in North Yorkshire on Thursday.

It led the Met Office to issue several yellow warnings across the country – and even a tornado warning was issued for parts of Yorkshire and midlands on Saturday. The agency has now issued a forecast for the next few days when the latest storm weather front is expected to arrive from the west.
Experts forecast say more severe weather will begin from Saturday evening but it is not known if the latest front will be known as Storm Henk. More high winds are expected on Sunday as revellers mark New Year’s Eve.
Wind maps from WXCharts show wind speeds reaching up to 40mph across the country between Sunday, December 31 and Monday, January 1. It comes after snow fell in areas of North Yorkshire on Friday – and more snow is on the way on New Year’s Day (Monday).
An area of North Yorkshire is set to see snowfall on January 1 at 6pm according to weather experts. Elsewhere, it looks to be more of a sodden start to the year with rain sweeping across the whole county.
