Weight loss guru and TV doctor Michael Mosley, appeared on our TV screens tonight as he revealed the truth behind the nation’s health by looking into what goes into our shopping trolleys.
During the first episode of his Channel 4 show, Secret of your Big Shop, he met lorry driver Michael and his wife Rebecca. The couple both claimed to eat healthy however Michael decided to go undercover at the checkout to discover the truth about what they’re really buying.
When Michael ambushed the couple during their shop, he found that alongside the fruit and veg they also had a lot of fizzy drinks, pizza, snacks and sweets in their trolley. To help the pair live a healthier life, he gave them some useful advice, including avoiding eating for the three hours before bedtime and moving after snacking.
Elsewhere Michael pointed out that most people shop on “autopilot, which could lead to you falling back on old habits. To help take back control of your food shop and health, Michael advised everyone to head out with a list to help stay on track.
He also recommends enjoying treats when you’re out, but not buying them at the supermarket, to avoid snacking to much once you get home.
