Miranda Lambert’s concert over the weekend caused a stir on social media after she stopped a few bars into a song and slammed a group of attending fans for taking selfies during her performance.

“These are the 2 pictures we were talking about when Miranda Lambert stopped her concert and told us to sit down and not take selfies,” Adela Calin wrote on Instagram Monday, June 17, 2023.

The 40-something social media influencer felt like she “was back at school with the teacher scolding” her. Lambert stopped her performance of the ballad “Tin Man” when she saw Calin and five friends take photos with their backs to the stage on Saturday.

In a viral TikTok video taken at the singer’s Velvet Rodeo residency, she says, “I’m gonna stop right here for a sec.” She reprimands the woman for being more concerned about taking a photo than listening to the song. After telling the six to sit down, she starts up again.

In the viral tok taken by another concertgoer, one person is seen getting up.

In an interview with NBC following the incident, Calin said she was “appalled” by the treatment she received from the “If I Was a Cowboy” hitmaker. She explained that they could not get the photos they wanted before the show due to the lighting.

Towards the end of the performance, Calin asked someone in the row behind them to take a snap when Lambert reprimanded them for what she said would have taken “30 seconds at most.”

As of Wednesday, there are four Instagram posts on the influencer’s account from the show, with multiple photos and videos taken before and during the show.

Calin has empathy for the performer’s extreme reaction which could have been due to the rise of concertgoers’ unruly behavior in general. Similar behavior also caused artists like Kelsea Ballerini, Taylor Swift, and Pink to stop their live shows in the past.

While some people reportedly left in protest, the six women who wanted the “selfie” looked to have stayed until the end.

In the clip, most of the venue cheers on Miranda Lambert when he stops the show. On social media, the response leaned more toward the fans who wanted to commemorate their evening with photographs.
