Namel Colon was arrested in charge of a deadly shooting 36-year-old woman named Jennifer Ynoa and a dog in Bedford-Stuyvesant on January 2. Namel is charged with murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Who is Namel Colon:
Namel Colon is a 36-year-old New York City resident man accused of shooting and murdering a 36-year-old woman named Jennifer Ynoa and a dog in Bedford-Stuyvesant on January 2. The Colon of Manhattan was hauled to the 79th Precinct, where he was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said. Ynoa, a mother of four who lived two blocks away from the store, was out on her nightly walk with her dog when she was killed, her live-in boyfriend Carlton Busch, 46, had told The Post.
The fatal shooting was captured, and the suspect was also caught on video arriving in front of the bodega in a red car and calmly crossing the street before squeezing off the shots.
What Happened On 2nd January:
Colon is accused of firing several shots into Salim Smoke Shop and Lottery Corp on DeKalb Avenue in Clinton Hill on Jan. 2, striking Jennifer Ynoa, 36, who was at the counter, and her dog. The camera angle on the street captured the shooter fleeing to a red four-door sedan parked on the street. He hopped into the driver’s seat and took off.
Ynoa, who lived on the block where the gunfire erupted, the NYPD said, she was also 36, was walking her dog near Dekalb and Franklin Avenue before 9:45 p.m. when surveillance video showed a gunman chase her into a smoke shop before opening fire. She was shot in the head and transported to Brooklyn Hospital, pronounced dead. Her dog, Blue, died at the scene, police said.
Ynoa left a trail of blood as she exited the store. Her dog died on the sidewalk. EMS rushed her to Brooklyn Hospital, but it was too late to save her life. Detectives believe Colon was aiming for someone else in the store and that Ynoa and her pit bull were caught in the middle, the NYPD has said. Law enforcement sources said that they don’t believe Ynoa was the intended target of the shooting.
