Netflix viewers are raving about a new show which has been described as the ‘best in a long time’.
The Brothers Sun has scored a near-perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes. An action-comedy, the show is an eight-part series that follows the lives of a criminal Asian-American family.
It boasts an impressive cast fronted by Oscar-winning ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ actress Michell Yeoh, reports the Mirror.

Martial arts-filled fight scenes, created with the help of fight coordinators from the first John Wick film, are a constant feature in the fast-paced show.
Creators Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu say the series explores what it means to be a family in extreme circumstances. Falchuk added: “We do an extreme version of it because they’re a crime family and there are people shooting at them and trying to kill them. But the conflicts they’re having — the problems they’re having internally, the emotional problems — are very, very universal.”
When the head of a powerful Taiwanese triad is shot by a mysterious assassin, his eldest son, legendary killer Charles “Chairleg” Sun – played by Justin Chien – has to then head to Los Angeles to protect his mother, Eileen Sun (Yeoh) and his naive younger brother, Bruce, played by Sam Song Li, who is none the wiser about his family’s criminal activities.
The family attempt to heal the wounds of separation before one of their countless enemies kills them all as a power struggle rages between Taipei’s deadliest societies and a new rising faction.
Since it debuted on the streaming platform, The Brothers Sun has received overwhelmingly positive reviews and has already earned Netflix its first 90 percent-plus Rotten Tomatoes score of 2024. It is currently scored at 97 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and fans have labelled it the “best Netflix show in a long time”.
