A 20-year-old man has tragically died after a wall collapsed on him in Batley.
Another man has been taken to hospital and has suffered serious injuries. A large police cordon is in place at the scene in Perseverance Terrace as detectives try to establish how the tragedy happened.
At 7.29pm yesterday evening, West Yorkshire Police were contacted by Yorkshire Ambulance Service following the collapse of the wall. There, paramedics found two men injured, with one trapped underneath the rubble.

Both men were rushed to hospital having suffered serious injuries. Sadly, one man, who was just 20 years old, died later in the evening.
Police have now confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and the injuries of the second man are not believed to be life threatening. A spokesman for the force said: “At 7.29pm yesterday (Wednesday), police were contacted by the ambulance service about an incident where a man was trapped following a wall collapse in Perseverance Terrace, Batley.
“Officers attended and found that two males had suffered injuries. Both were taken to hospital with serious injuries. One was sadly pronounced deceased later in the evening. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the Coroner.
“The other male’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The Health and Safety Executive has been contacted about this matter and enquiries are continuing.”
