Before becoming one of Hollywood’s most esteemed actors, Pierce Brosnan had to endure a difficult and lonely childhood. His father left him when he was an infant, and he grew up in the care of his mother and grandparents.

Brosnan commended his mother for being courageous, choosing to leave Ireland to work as a nurse in England in hopes of a better life for him. They only saw each other once or twice a year, and he was left with his grandparents, whom he remembered quite differently from one another.

Despite the difficult past he had with his family, Brosnan chose to have a family of his own later on. He married Keely Shaye Smith in 2001, ten years after his marriage to Cassandra Harris ended after she died of cancer.

The actor adopted his late wife’s children from a previous relationship, Charlotte and Christopher, and raised them as his own. They also shared a son named Sean. Meanwhile, Brosnan shares two sons named Dylan and Paris with Smith.

Brosnan, who has endured all the ups and downs with his wife Keely, was once asked what the secret was to a great marriage. He answered:

Smith also has kind words to say about her husband as a family man. While promoting his latest movie “Black Adam” where he stars alongside Dwayne Johnson, she told the press that he was just as much a superhero in their own home as he is on the big screen. When asked what made him a superhero at home, she revealed it was his “big heart; generous, warm, kind heart.”

Brosnan is a Real-Life Superhero

The same way that the actor is a superhero to his family, he was also a savior to his colleagues while they were shooting “Percy Jackson.” While filming, Brosnan noticed a vehicle moving uncontrollably towards his co-star Uma Thurman and a few other cast and crew members and decided to step in to make sure they were unharmed by the threat.

The “James Bond” actor saw that no one was driving the van as it moved swiftly towards a grassy area where Thurman was lounging in-between takes. Brosnan ran after the van, opened the driver’s door to get in, and pressed on the brakes as soon as he could.

Ultimately, the van hit a curb and crashed into several garbage bins, and the cast and crew were able to move out of the way before the actor brought the van to a stop.

The movie’s transportation crew was reprimanded for not setting the van’s emergency brake properly, and the incident made Brosnan a hero in the eyes of his co-star. “Pierce got kudos and hero 007 jokes from Uma,” an insider disclosed.
