Police cars attacked as Logan car meet spins out of control

Three police cars were damaged when officers arrived to break up arguments and scuffles at a “car meet” of about 350 people in Logan on Saturday.

Police say the large crowd turned out to see YouTube personality Spanian – real name Anthony Lees – who runs a series called Into the Hood.

Panels on the police cars were kicked in and a windscreen was smashed after organisers lost control of the crowd and several people rampaged against the police presence.

One man was taken into custody, but as of Sunday morning, no charges had been laid.

The three cars were attacked about 2pm in Bourke Street, Waterford West, where drivers began “dragging and skidding their cars”, police said on Sunday.

Officers from Logan, South Brisbane and the Gold Coast arrived and issued traffic infringement notices, including for driving in a dangerous manner.

Police declared the car meet “out of control” and blocked off the street, but by 4pm, officers had restored order.

No-one was injured, but investigations were continuing on Sunday.
