A man has died following a car crash in the car park of KFC and Lidl in Haley Hill, Halifax, last night.

Police received a report of the crash at 6.16pm on Wednesday, December 3. West Yorkshire Police officers raced to the scene. There, they found a Nissan Navara and a Kia Sportage that had crashed.

Soon after arriving, they found a 71-year-old man – who was also the driver of the Navara – in urgent need of medical attention at North Bridge. He had collapsed and was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A police cordon was in place on the supermarket car park last night with two West Yorkshire Police vehicles spotted at the scene, as well as crime scene investigation teams.

It is understood that a second cordon was also put in place at North Bridge, believed to be where the elderly man had collapsed after leaving the scene of the crash.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “No other injuries were reported. The incident is being treated as a suspected medical episode and a file is being prepared for the Coroner.”
