A lorry has hit a bridge in Doncaster and is causing long delays through the city centre this morning (Fri).
Trafford Way in Doncaster has been shut by South Yorkshire Police after a lorry hit a bridge causing structural damage. No one has been injured, police have confirmed.
The incident happened at around 4am on January 19 and the road remains shut at the time of writing – it is unclear when it will be reopened. The closure is causing long delays through Doncaster city centre as people make their way to work.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “We were called at 4.01am this morning (19 January) to reports of a collision in Trafford Way, Doncaster.
“It is reported that a lorry collided with a bridge near Frenchgate causing structural damage. No one has been injured.
“A section of Trafford Way under Frenchgate Tunnel heading away from the city centre towards Wheatley has been closed. The road is expected to be closed for some time and we would urge drivers to avoid the area.”
