Pregnant Kourtney Kardashian Gives Update after Urgent Fetal Surgery: ‘How Scary,’ Fan Reacts

American media personality Kourtney Kardashian, 44, famously known for being a part of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” has been set to welcome her baby with her husband, Travis Barker, 47, since her pregnancy announcement in June. Recently, the media mogul shared some scary news about a health complication that happened while pregnant.

On Wednesday, she took to her Instagram to reveal that she had been rushed to undergo emergency fetal surgery to save her baby. In the black and white photo she posted, Barker held her hand, which had a drip attached to it.

The end part of a bandaid put on her pregnant belly could also be seen in the image. Kardashian’s caption explained the context of what was happening, which also acknowledged her respect for other mothers who have also had to undergo emergency medical interventions to save their babies. The expecting mom also conveyed gratitude to her husband and her mother, Kris Jenner:

“…And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this.”

When fans saw Kardashian’s update after her surgery, many expressed relief and happiness to know that she and the baby are okay. One Instagram user commented:

“How scary 🥺🥺🥺 I love you.”

Although the majority of Kardashian’s fans were thankful everything went well with her operation, some shared a different sentiment. One person said:

“Sorry, but I can’t help to feel that this is all for ratings for the newest season of their show.”

Nevertheless, like his wife, Barker thanked everyone who supported the couple during their tough time. Before Kardashian and Barker announced the news about the surgery, his band, Blink-182, issued a statement that they would be postponing their European tour dates.

They clarified that the postponement was due to the fact that Barker had to fly back home to tend to a family matter. In addition to this new baby, Barker and Kardashian have three kids each, from their previous relationships.

Before getting pregnant with their new baby, Kardashian got candid about her journey to conception. Last year, after announcing she and Barker wanted a baby on her family’s show, she revealed that she had been experiencing complications with in vitro fertilization (IVF).

She also admitted that the issues with their method of trying to have a baby were making her depressed. When her mother asked how her doctor’s appointments were going, the 44-year-old simply answered, awful.

She also said that the constant flurry of comments from people on social media asking her if she was pregnant because of her weight gain only added to her depressive state. Luckily, Kardashian had both her family and supportive partner by her side throughout her journey.

Barker and Kardashian’s love story began in 2019 when rumors about their romantic connection started swirling amongst the public after they were spotted grabbing dinner together. The lovebirds went official, publicly, in February 2021, and by April 2022, the couple tied the knot in Las Vegas before having a lavish wedding ceremony later the same year.

Kardashian and Barker’s fans and loved ones are pleased to know that her surgery went successfully and that doctors saved their baby’s life.

Though Kardashian has not revealed her due date yet, sources speculate that the baby is expected to arrive later this year.
