The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are warned to stay away from king Charles’s coronation. Multiple politicians, historians, and other notable people have asked to ban Prince Harry and Meghan Markel to get banned from the coronation.
Why are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle asked to stay away from the Coronation?
King Charles took the throne after the death of his mother in September. An official ceremony will be held next year. Still, historians, politicians and others have suggested that it would be better if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stayed away from the coronation and dropped their royal titles.
These suggestions were made based on the backlash of their Netflix docuseries. The show is marking the end of their relationship with the royal family. Former politician David Mellor said that Harry and Meghan “Categorically should not attend” the king’s coronation.
He said, “ They make money out of selling their family down the river. I think it should be made clear that the British people do not want them there.”
Former Conservation leader Duncan Smith came in support of Mellor by raising a question: Why would they attend the coronation if they despise the royal family so much?
What is shown in the Netflix Docuseries?
All the backlash started with the Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan, released last Thursday. Harry and Meghan have made serious allegations against the royal family in the docuseries. In the series, Harry also mentioned that Prince William did not marry Kate out of love but because she suited the royal family.
He also mentioned that king Charles did not properly look after him after the death of Diana. The couple also mentioned that the family was biassed about Meghan’s race. The allegations can cause severe issues within the royal family. Most people think that it is better if they do not attend the following year’s coronation.
