Even after his death, Prince remains one of the world’s most influential singers. Amid his successful career, he endured failed marriages and short-lived relationships. Here’s a look back on the musician’s dating and married life.

Prince rose to fame in the music industry because of his colorful, androgynous demeanor and exceptional vocal range. Among his most famous albums was “Purple Rain,” which served as the soundtrack to the 1984 film of the same name.

Sadly, Prince passed away in 2016 because of an accidental drug overdose. If not for his untimely demise, the music legend would have turned 64 on June 4, 2022.

PRINCE’S ORDINARY LOVE LIFE: FROM KIM BASINGER TO MADONNA AND CARMEN ELECTRA

Prince’s romantic relationships created a great deal of controversy, and the high-profile women who dated the renowned musician would frequently become his muses.

Besides being known for his past marriages, Prince previously dated pop singers, supermodels, and a slew of other beautiful women throughout the years.

Among Prince’s notable dalliances was Madonna. Prince briefly dated the Queen of Pop in 1985, around the time they collaborated on Madonna’s hit song titled “Love Song.”

However, Madonna allegedly left Prince after meeting actor Sean Penn, who she went on to marry later that year. Prince’s short-lived romance with Madonna led him to date another actress.

Prince dated actress and model Kim Basinger in 1989 when she starred in the “Batman” film, where the late singer worked and provided the movie’s soundtrack.

However, the pair’s relationship failed to prosper, as Basinger later married actor Alec Baldwin. Basinger had no ill feelings after separating from Prince, adding that they both shared “great memories” together.

Prince reportedly dated actress and singer Carmen Electra. It’s unclear when the rumored couple began dating, although they were thought to have dated in the early 1990s before Electra released her 1993 album.

Both singers had also collaborated with music. Prince famously gave the actress her onscreen name, which catapulted her to stardom. Electra’s former name was Tara Leigh Patrick.

Besides Electra, Prince reportedly dated more women and well-known female celebrities – Anna Fantastic, Charlene Friend, Sheila E, Sherilyn Fenn, Vanessa Marcile, and Vanity.

He was also romantically linked to Misty Copeland, Nona Gaye, Apollonia, Susan Moonsie, Susannah Melvoin, Delilah, and Bria Valente.

Despite the long list of women he dated, the late artist was married twice – to dancer and actress Mayte Garcia and to Canadian charity worker Manuela Testolini.

Garcia and Prince met backstage at one of the late musician’s gigs after he saw a video of her belly dancing. They married on Valentine’s Day in 1996 but divorced in 2000.

In 2001, Prince, then 43, met Testolini in Minneapolis while she was working for the nonprofit Love4OneAnother. Shortly after they met, he married Testolini, who was 24 at that time.

Prince’s marriage to his much younger wife only lasted five years, as Testolini filed for an amicable divorce from the music superstar in 2006.

DID PRINCE HAVE CHILDREN?

Prince’s marriage to Garcia made him a father of two children. However, Prince was unable to enjoy fatherhood because his first son, Amiir passed away shortly after he was born due to Pfeiffer syndrome.

After Amiir’s loss, Garcia became pregnant again, but she later suffered a miscarriage. The pain of losing two children prompted Garcia and Prince to end their marriage.

Garcia and Prince were unable to process the deaths of their children. “It took me at least 15 years to get over it, and still, to this day, I miss my son,” she said.
