On April 29, 2023, Katharine Ross was featured in an Instagram photo with her daughter, Cleo Ross Elliott, and her son-in-law. Ross looked older as she proudly showed off her long gray hair while taking part in building a puzzle with the couple.

Cleo’s mother sat between her and her daughter’s husband as they tackled the puzzle together on a low table. The trio looked engaged and quite happy as they enjoyed figuring out the final picture together.

Ross was dressed in a blue top with red circles, a white scarf, and what appeared to be jeans for the special occasion. Cleo’s followers responded well to the post, with one person noting how the image was “one of the cutest” they’d seen.

Someone else revealed that doing jigsaw puzzles was one of their favorite past times. A third person thought the image was “nice” and said it was “Great to see both of you,” while another follower confessed that they’d loved puzzles since childhood.

The social media user shared how they’d glue the whole thing together after it was complete and then frame it. Another person said they “Loved this picture with your Mom!!!,” while someone else wrote:

Doing puzzles together with her mother was a pastime Cleo seemed to enjoy. On 2022’s Christmas Day, Ross’s daughter uploaded two Instagram photos of her and the actress doing another puzzle together, and she confessed that they both loved “a good puzzle.”

Cleo and her mother seemed to have a good and close relationship now, but their bond was complicated for a while. Years ago, Ross‘s daughter once had a restraining order done against her by her mother.

In March 2011, Ross’ only child and daughter allegedly threatened “to kill her,” forcing her mother to get a restraining order. The actress, then 71, said she was fearful after Cleo, then 26, reportedly stabbed her half a dozen times with scissors.

“The Graduate” star, who shared her daughter with Sam Elliott, said in her Los Angeles County Superior Court filing that Cleo had a violent episode where she threatened her life. The court documents said on March 2, 2011, Ross and her daughter were at their Malibu family home when Cleo suddenly threatened her mother’s life.

Ross said she responded by trying to call the police, but her daughter cut the phone line with scissors before attacking her mother with them. Sam’s wife alleged that from age 12 or 13, Cleo had been verbally and physically abusive.

“The Stepford Wives” actress was given a restraining order against her child and ordered to move from the family home. Cleo was also ordered to stay 100 yards away from her mother, who welcomed her a few months before turning 45.

However, the mother-daughter pair seemed to have made peace and were now working on rekindling their relationship. Ross and Sam’s love story that got them their only child was a funny one where the actor felt he was out of her league.

While they didn’t meet physically or even talk in 1969, Ross was an established actress starring as the lead in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” when Sam got a part as an extra. He was labeled “card player #2” for a bar scene and didn’t even bother talking to her.
