September 8, 2022, will forever remain significant in history, as it marked the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning British monarch. According to Royal traditions, Her majesty’s funeral will take place on September 19, 2022.

Reports have revealed that the event will take place at Westminster Abbey, and afterward, there will be a committal service in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

During the state funeral, Queen Elizabeth’s coffin will reportedly be surrounded by the closest members of her family. Royal family members like King Charles III, Camilla, and Queen Consort, alongside the late Queen’s other children and their partners, will reportedly be present.

Also, Her Majesty’s grandchildren, and their respective partners, are expected to be in attendance. Since the announcement of Her Majesty’s funeral date, there have been speculations regarding what the Queen will be adorned with on the memorable day.

Despite having a private collection of several jewelry pieces, a royal expert believes that Queen Elizabeth will likely be buried with only two of them. During an interview with Metro.co.uk, the Head of Communications at the Natural Diamond Council, Lisa Levinson, confessed:

“Her Majesty is an incredibly humble woman at night who is unlikely to be dressed in anything but her simple Welsh gold wedding band to rest and a pair of pearl earrings.”

Another expert, Mok O’Keeffe, shared the same sentiment as Levinson. He noted that Queen Elizabeth’s wedding band was all she needed. According to O’Keeffe, burying the late monarch with her wedding ring was a “simple act of love” befitting someone who basked in the simplicity of life.

While experts believe that the Queen will be buried with her sentimental wedding ring, there is another piece of jewelry that Her Majesty never took off after Prince Philip designed it. Here are the details.

The Special Jewelry Designed by Prince Philip

Prince Philip truly loved Queen Elizabeth, and he proved it in many ways, one of which was designing a ring for her. The Duke of Edinburgh received the material used to make the ring from his mother in the form of a tiara in 1946.

The pair had fallen in love, but sadly, they kept their courtship hidden and tried not to be seen in public together.

Philip’s mother had gotten the tiara on her wedding day, but when she heard her son wanted to propose, she gave it to him to dismantle and create a ring for Queen Elizabeth.

So, Philip dismantled the tiara and began working on the unique jewelry for his wife. He worked with a London Jeweler, designing it himself.

The beautiful engagement ring was reportedly set in platinum and had eleven natural diamonds. In addition, the ring was made with an inscription, which only Philip, the Queen, and the engraver knew.

Then, the Duke of Edinburgh finally proposed to his Queen with the ring. After their engagement, Queen Elizabeth reportedly never took off the jewelry piece. Even after getting a different wedding ring, she allegedly wore the two rings under her signature gloves for the rest of her life.

At the time, Her Majesty was traveling with her parents and sister to Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth. On the other hand, Philip, a blonde cadet, was assigned to entertain Queen Elizabeth and her sister, Princess Margaret.

While spending time and playing games together, Queen Elizabeth and Philip formed a connection. A few years later, what began as friendship evolved into something more profound.

The pair had fallen in love, but sadly, they kept their courtship hidden and tried not to be seen in public together.

This is because Her Majesty’s father, King George VI, had disliked Philip. He reportedly considered him “rough, ill-mannered, uneducated and would probably not be faithful.”

However, with time, the Duke of Edinburgh proved that he was the opposite, making King George like him. Eventually, the King approved of Queen Elizabeth and Philip’s wedding, but it could only happen after the former turned 21.

Finally, in 1947, the couple tied the knot at Westminster Abbey. While saying her vows, Queen Elizabeth included the word “Obey,” which would cause a controversy, as the word had been omitted from the Church of England service about two decades before her wedding.

Prince Philip’s Demise/Life After

After over seven decades of marital bliss, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth’s marriage ended following the former’s death. The Duke of Edinburgh passed away on April 9, 2021, at 99.

Eight days later, his funeral took place, and Philip’s grieving widow made sure to leave a special last note for her husband. The note read:
