Rebecca Liddicoat Divorced Robert Griffin III Soon after Giving Birth to Their Daughter

Rebecca Liddicoat and Robert Griffin III were college sweethearts before becoming husband and wife and first-time parents. However, the bliss of welcoming a child was cut short for the couple, whose relationship, which dates back to 2009, came to an end following cheating allegations.

When their relationship began, Liddicoat humorously revealed that it had not been love at first sight for her due to Griffin’s questionable taste in clothing. However, there was just something about the Biology major that won the heart of the quarterback.

Before they knew it, Liddicoat and Griffin had tied the knot and welcomed their first child. But it only took a few months for their marriage to be on the rocks due to allegations that Griffin had been unfaithful. Now, the NFL player has moved on with the woman he was accused of cheating on Liddicoat with.

Rebecca Liddicoat Met Her Future Husband at Baylor

To set the scene, it’s 2009, and while Griffin was making a name for himself on the Baylor University football field, his future wife was serving as the president of CHI’s Service Club when a mutual friend introduced them.

However, Liddicoat revealed she had not been a fan of the colorful socks with characters like Cookie Monster, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Scooby-Doo that Griffin often wore. “When I first met him, I thought he was a little weird. I was a little nervous, and I asked him why he was wearing girls’ socks. He had on those weird socks he always wears,” she said.

In the end, his humble nature and humor grew on her. As for Griffin, he had just ended a relationship that was not working, and while he wasn’t looking for anything serious, Liddicoat “rubbed [him] the right way.” He said:

Griffin proposed to Liddicoat in 2010 after a game against Kansas State. Both their families were in town, and she recalled how “strange” he had been acting. The ex-couple had a special spot on campus where she imagined he would propose, but it turned out not to be due to the weather.

However, Griffin had another trick up his sleeve and took Liddicoat to a candle-lit indoor facility at their college and popped the question in front of their family while one of his teammates played the guitar.

They officially became husband and wife on July 6, 2013, at the Four Seasons in Denver, close to Liddicoat’s hometown of Boulder, Colorado. On their special day, the former couple was joined by family and friends, including NFL players DeAngelo Hall, Kirk Cousins, and Santana Moss.

A few months before their big day, Griffin and Liddicoat became the topic of conversation when a video of them rapping about pop rocks and tootsie pops went viral. The out-of-the-ordinary clip had been on YouTube for a few months but blew up after it was uploaded to Griffin’s Facebook page.

By 2015, the former couple went from engaged college students to newlyweds to parents after welcoming their daughter, Reese Ann Griffin, in May. After their bundle of joy was born, the quarterback shared the news of his daughter’s arrival on Twitter.

A few months after their daughter was born, Griffin and Liddicoat went their separate ways after rumors that she had learned of his romance with another woman. According to reports, Griffin began a romantic relationship with Estonia-born track athlete Grete Šadeiko on Instagram.

Griffin and Liddicoat divorced after she learned of his alleged affair, and after Griffin and Šadeiko’s romance became public knowledge, they became social-media-official.

She has been spotted supporting Griffin during his football practices and game days. Griffin and Šadeiko have since started a family of their own. The NFL player unexpectedly proposed during their first baby shower, and the couple later married.
