Regina Hall’s Private Life: What We Know About Her Dating History

There have been a lot of speculations about who actress Regina Hall’s husband is. Hall, who has been in Hollywood for over two decades, rarely discusses her personal life.

Regina Hall is one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood today. She rose to prominence for her role in the comedy-horror film series “Scary Movie,” which propelled her to the forefront of show business.

Hall has been successful in her career, but many have been curious if she is currently dating anyone. Hall’s fans also speculated about the real status of her relationship with another actress for a long time.

Regina Hall’s Dating History

Although Hall has consciously decided to keep most of her private life away from the public’s prying eyes, she previously opened up about one facet of her dating life.

She revealed in 2015 that she went through a big breakup in 2009. During that year, she was busy filming scenes for the movie “Law Abiding Citizen” and the crime series, “Law & Order: LA. Law & Order: LA.”

Though Hall never disclosed details about the person she dated, she revealed she considered quitting acting and becoming a nun after the terrible heartbreak. She said:

“I thought, ‘I have missed it all. I have been all wrong. I am supposed to be a nun.”

Hall attended a catholic school even though she did not practice Catholicism, and when she was younger, she had the ambition to become a nun. She was also once drawn to a spiritual path.

Hall never pursued her wish of becoming a nun. The religious order she was interested in had an age requirement for women to join, and she had a few other issues along the way that kept her from taking it up.

But no matter how much the gorgeous actress, whose career has spanned over two decades, avoided discussions of her dating life, there have been persistent rumors about her possible romantic partners.

Hopeful for her next relationship, Regina Hall also admitted that even she would talk to God, asking for the right partner.

Before becoming famous in the entertainment industry, Hall reportedly had a relationship with rapper Sadat X, whose real name is Derek Murphy. Murphy claimed that, aside from dating, he lived with her in the 1990s and 2000s.

Murphy added that he first met Hall while she was a student at Fordham University in New York before she relocated to California. He said he “probably should have married her” when she was still in New York.

However, things have gone well for Hall and the rapper, who gained prominence as a member of the hip-hop group Brand Nubian. According to Sadat, they continued to be friends and keep in touch.

Reportedly, Hall dated the actor Damon Kyle Wayans, Sr., but their romance was only short-lived. Although Hall never revealed further information about their relationship, Damon’s brother, actor Marlon Wayans, confirmed that she dated his older sibling.

While discussing his film “Naked,” Marlon revealed in a People interview that he was the third Wayans sibling Hall had kissed. Marlon also said the second person was his other brother, Shawn Wayans.

Hall also dated a female actress, if speculations are anything to go by. “Nappily Ever After” star Sanaa Lathan was rumored to have been in a relationship with Hall. Both actresses appeared in the sports drama film, “Love and Basketball.”

The rumor began when Hall moved into Lathan’s house. Fans, on the other hand, were incorrect in their assumptions. Hall temporarily chose to stay in Lathan’s place because hers was undergoing extensive renovations.

Because of their on-screen and off-screen closeness, Lathan’s relationship with Hall sparked claims that Hall was gay. Both actresses laughed off the claims.

A big supporter of the queer community, Hall said if she dated a woman, she wouldn’t be ashamed or attempt to hide it from the public eye. She clarified it wouldn’t be Lathan, though, as she treats her like a sister.

Meanwhile, rapper Common also sparked romance rumors with Hall in 2016 after they co-starred in the comedy film “Barbershop: The Next Cut.” A source close to both actors reportedly claimed that the pair dated in October of that year.

Common, whose real name is Lonnie Rashid Lynn, quickly denied dating his co-star, noting they were never in a relationship as he viewed her as his “buddy.” The hip-hop star described Hall as “funny,” “beautiful,” and “super cool.”

In 2018, Hall sparked dating rumors again with the late “Black Panther” actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in August 2020. During that year’s Vanity Oscars party, the late actor held Hall’s hand as she walked downstairs.

Despite their friendliness in the star-studded event, Boseman was not romantically linked to Hall. The actor was dating his future wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, then.

Regina Hall’s Wants to Keep Her Life Private

Hall once explained why she needed to keep her dating life entirely private. In 2017, she told Essence that she considers relationships to be sacred. She said:

“I just feel like relationships are sacred until you’re in a space where you are really certain and knowing…”

She added that she would not let anyone into this part of her life unless she were entirely sure about how serious the relationship was. She said, however, that she understands people’s fascination. She added that she, too, would gossip about other people’s dating exploits with her friends.

Hopeful for her next relationship, Regina Hall also admitted that even she would talk to God, asking for the right partner.

Unfazed by dating rumors constantly following her, the “About Last Night” actress has kept her personal life largely away from the public spotlight. As of 2021, Hall has not revealed being in a relationship or married.
