Wellington: There’s a History Channel series called Kings of Pain, in which a wildlife biologist and an animal handler take turns being bitten or stung by a variety of insects and animals, ostensibly to measure how much each hurts.
On day three at the Basin Reserve the role of the stingers was played by Australia; the thankless pain testing job taken on by New Zealand.

Ravindra key to New Zealand’s Test hopes
New Zealand will need something special from Rachin Ravindra, the elegant 24-year-old playing just his sixth Test. Born in Wellington to parents from India, Ravindra has made a big impression during his short career. Currently unbeaten on 56, it is the second time in 12 innings he has reached a half-century. The first time, against South Africa last month, he went on to make 240.

New Zealand must create history to win in Wellington
Good morning and welcome to day four of this fast-moving first Test. I’m Malcolm Conn. New Zealand must knock down all sorts of historical barriers if they are to win in Wellington today. Resuming on 3/111, the Kiwis need another 258 to claim just their second Test victory against Australia in 32 Tests. The target of 369 would be the greatest chase ever achieved in New Zealand, passing the 5/348 by the West Indies during 1968/69 in Auckland. New Zealand’s most successful run chase at home was 5/324 against Pakistan in Christchurch during 1993/94, and their best in Wellington 3/217 against Bangladesh in 2016/17.
